It’s Time for Us to Make America Great Again

If you’ve ever wondered what living in pre-war Germany was like, and how people could turn a blind eye on injustices they must have known their government was committing, wonder no longer.

The sadness and frustration you’ll feel from reading the Detroit Free Press report of the pending deportation (and in pragmatic terms, death sentence) of a deaf and mentally disabled man for no good reason whatsoever will make you ashamed of what Trump has turned us into. Our country has lost its way.

America wasn’t perfect before Trump came along but it was…pretty great. It’s time make America great again.

Resist, resist, resist. And vote for every Democrat on the ballot this November.

The magnificent Diane Rehm recently had the very smart Mr. Ornstein as a guest on her podcast. His book with his writing partner, Thomas Mann, It’s Even Worse Than It Looks, was criticized for its lack of false equivalencies in mostly blaming Republicans for obstructionism under Obama, but to many others this only lent him greater credibility.

Not a Single Member of Trump’s Evangelical Council Has Resigned

So many members of Trump’s manufacturing advisory council resigned over his support of armed extremists in Charlottesville, Va. that he had to disband the group to avoid further embarrassment. One by one, until Trump cried uncle at eight, leaders of industry released statements of resignation, adding their disagreement with the president’s views on race, anti-semitism, protest, and the circumstances of the loss of life at the white supremacy rally.

But not Trump’s evangelical council. Not a single member has resigned, from former Rep. Michele Bachmann to the Rev. Jerry Falwell to James Dobson.

Jimmy Fallon has been criticized for failing to call out Trump and for having him as a guest during the campaign, helping him prove that Trump hair is actually hair. But now Fallon has taken a stand, and made a statement that turned “was just disgusting” into a trending topic on Twitter.

2016 was the hottest year in 137 years of record-keeping, and the third in a row to be so noted. That and other omens are confirmed in a new report available from the American Meteorological Society called, “State of the Climate 2016.”

The report, peer-reviewed by international scientists, describes the following “highlights.”

  • Greenhouse gases highest on record
  • Global surface temperature highest on record
  • Sea surface temperatures highest on record
  • Global sea level highest on record
  • Extremes in the water cycle and precipitation
  • Arctic continued to warm, sea ice extent remained low
  • Antarctic has record low sea ice extent
  • Global ice and snow cover decline
  • Tropical cyclones well above average overall

Do Republicans Know Something We Don’t?

“The GOP is behaving like a party that isn’t worried about ever winning another fair election.”

Cox notes that Republican disregard for constituent concern about health insurance signals that the GOP feels it might no longer be dependent on fair voting. The assertion comes after the loss on electronic voting machines of the Georgia District 6 congressional race by Democrat Jon Ossoff, despite leading in pre-race polls and early voting conducted on paper ballots.
