Michelle Obama Gets Candidate’s Name Wrong in Speech

Number of times Michelle Obama mispronounced U.S. Senate candidate Bruce Braley’s (D) name during her speech in Iowa, the Des Moines Register reports. She referred to the Iowa congressman as “Bruce Bailey” seven times before people in the crowd pointed out the mistake. Said Mrs. Obama: “Braley. What did I say? I am losing it. I am getting old. I have been traveling too much.”

Mitt Romney Tells an Obama Joke

mitt-romney-thumbs-upWhile campaigning in Iowa, former presidential candidate Mitt Romney proves his sense of humor is as sharp today as it was during the 2012 campaign, as reported by National Journal:

“President Obama went to the bank to cash a check and he didn’t have his ID. And the teller said you’ve got to prove who you are.”

“He said, ‘How should I do that?’ She said the other day Phil Mickelson came in, he didn’t have his ID but he set up a little cup on the ground, took a golf ball, putted it right into that cup so they knew it was Phil Mickelson. They cashed his check. And then Andre Agassi came in. And Andre Agassi didn’t have his ID either. He put a little target on the wall, took a tennis ball and racquet — hit it onto that target every time. We knew that was Andre Agassi so we cashed his check.”

“And she said to him, ‘Is there anything you can do to prove who you are?’ And [Obama] said, ‘I don’t have a clue.'”

“And she said, ‘Well, Mr. President, do you want your money in small bills or large bills.'”

It was side-splitting jokes like that one that garnered Mitt’s inclusion into the “Encyclopedia of Mormon Comedians.”

Maybe Republicans Really AREN’T People, Too

In its new “Republicans Are People, Too” advertising campaign, the GOP is going to some lengths to show that party members are, variously, guys with beards and tattoos, young black women, Prius drivers and young dudes who read the New York Times.

But according to TPM, the images used in the ads are all stock photos that have been used in other campaigns or, more egregiously, show a young man holding the Wall Street Journal who is, the ad alleges, reading the New York Times. Whoops!

The Republican Party’s ad agency really is clueless, too. Really.

Kind of reminds me of a little limerick I wrote.

He’s basically furniture in the Senate, and the people in Kansas know that. You could give the average Kansan 24 hours to come up with something Pat Roberts has done in the Senate, and after 24 hours, even the crickets would be standing there befuddled.

I have to give the Republicans credit for one thing in this election cycle. They’ve been able to keep their crazies quiet. But the big question is: Will some GOP crazy talk seep out between now November 4? In the words of Sarah Palin, I’d have to say, ‘You betcha.’

N.C. Congressional Candidate Suggests War with Mexico to Cure Illegal Immigration

I will tell you if you have foreigners who are sneaking in with drug cartels to me that is a national threat. And if we got to go laser or blitz somebody with a couple of fighter jets for a little while to make our point, I don’t have a problem with that either. So yeah, whatever we need to do.
