This is a guy who basically says, if the United States were only nice, it wouldn’t have had 9/11. He doesn’t want to blame the bad guys… He dismisses the danger of an Iranian nuclear weapon and seems to be indifferent to the idea that Israel could be wiped out. And as I said, I think the key to his volunteer base is people who want to legalize drugs.

Gingrich could not get tenure in a minor institution, West Georgia College. “Writing, presenting research work was not Newt’s forte,” said his dean, Richard A. Dangle. When first asked, Gingrich fudged and said he didn’t apply for tenure, then changed his story to having had a conversation with the dean who told him he was not going to get tenure “under any circumstances. You’ve spent four years campaigning, you can’t turn now and say, ‘let me get on the track.’”

Now, thanks to his early retirement, Perry, 61, gets a monthly retirement annuity of $7,698 before taxes, or $6,588 net.

As First Lady, Marcus Bachmann’s Number One Cause Will Be Hating Gays
“I’ve decided my cause is not going to be happy meals,” he said during a stop at the Family Table Restaurant here, apparently a dig at Mrs. Obama.
“We are going to be the message-givers,” said Mr. Bachmann, who runs a Christian counseling service that has been accused of trying to “heal” gays by persuading them to become heterosexual.
“We are going to get this message across,” he said. “Marriage is between one man and one woman. We are going to promote families.”
Meanwhile, Jonathan Chait suggests that Michele’s presidential aspirations have become such a long shot that she’s now pinning her hopes on being named Mitt Romney’s running mate. “Obviously,” writes Chait, “you’d have to be delusional to think that Romney would put a massive liability like Bachmann on his ticket. Luckily for him, Bachmann is delusional.”
At the Republican presidential debate this week in Sioux City, Iowa, Bachmann earned an astounding twelfth “Pants on Fire” from Politifact for lying when she said, “PolitiFact came out and said that everything I said was true” in the prior debate. Politifact says it said no such thing.
FOX Exploits Their Feckless Viewers by Switching Romney Picture for Obama
In what has become standard operating procedure at the so-called news organization, FOX, a graphic “accidentally” swapped out a photo of someone FOX doesn’t like and replaced it with a photo of a Democrat they like even less. Media Matters has both the original, from Wednesday, Nov. 14, and the “correction,” used later in the day.
Note to Romney: This is how you know FOX hates you. They show a picture of Obama while Megan talks about you. And then, when they announce the error, she says, “As it turns out, Romney and Barack Obama are not the same man.”
Newt Pledges to Uphold 1996 Defense of Marriage Act – Even Claims Credit for DOMA, Which He Enacted While Having an Affair
In a letter this week to an Iowa anti-gay hate group, Republican frontrunner Newt Gingrich pledged that, “[as] President, I will vigorously enforce the Defense of Marriage Act, which was enacted under my leadership as speaker of the House, and ensure compliance with its provisions, especially in the military. I will also aggressively defend the constitutionality of DOMA in federal and state courts.” (Emphasis added.)
I had promised myself I was going to lay off Newt during the primaries because I don’t want anything to jinx his chances of winning the Republican nomination, which is the clearest path to reelection for Pres. Obama. But this is too rich to resist.
First of all, why would anyone believe anything an old philanderer like Newt would say about marriage? Secondly, what Newt doesn’t say, of course, is that at the same time he was pushing DOMA through Congress, he, was in the second year of an adulterous affair that was as risky to his party — Republicans were still posing as paragons of family values back then — as it was reckless and damaging to his family.
