It’s Construction Mania

Trump The Builder is involved in a number of construction projects,
There’s the ballroom, the Kennedy Center and the Arch, among prospects.
Imelda Marcos and Hitler had the same malady,
Which features a futile grasp at immortality,
And now Donald Trump is showing unmistakeable symptoms of an edifice complex.

AOC Argues for Redistricting
“We have to all abide by the same rules. If Republicans are going to redraw North Carolina, if they’re going to redraw Texas, if they’re going to redraw and gerrymander every one of their states, then unfortunately we have to provide balance to that until we get to the day when we can all finally agree to put this behind us and pass nonpartisan gerrymandering federally.”
— Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), speaking to reporters when asked if New York should respond with its own redistricting.

— Tucker Carlson unloaded on President Trump and his administration, stating he has abandoned everyday Americans and even has contempt for them.
Comey Indictment Looks Flimsy
“If it really is a picture that says ‘86 47’ — I’ve used ‘86’ a lot of times. I’ve never said it with the intent of killing somebody.”
— Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC), quoted by the Washington Post, suggesting the indictment of former FBI director James Comey is flimsy.

The news from Trump’s economy these days is all doom and gloom,
And though he’s ended it twelve times, Trump’s ending the Iran war again soon.
All this bad news really rankles
Trump — from his hairdo to his cankles —
When all he really wants to do is build his big, beautiful ballroom.

The current state of our national political debate is pathetic,
And politicians’ performative stunts make us crave an emetic.
But when the bullets start flying,
Both sides start denying:
Saying MY violent rhetoric is less violent than YOUR violent rhetoric.
