119th Kindergarten’s in Session

After wandering away from D.C. for 54 days in the wilderness,
The House returned with some kind of collective mental illness.
They seem uninterested in legislating,
Focused instead on threats and censurings,
Leaving the nation to marvel in wonder at their childish pettiness.
Mamdani Still Considers Trump a ‘Fascist’
“That’s something I’ve said in the past and I say today. And I think what I appreciated about the conversation that I had with the president was that we were not shy about the places of disagreement, about the politics that has brought us to this moment, and we also wanted to focus on what it could look like to deliver on a shared analysis of an affordability crisis for New Yorkers.”
— New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani said that he still believes President Trump is a “fascist” and a “despot,” but he viewed their first face-to-face meeting at the White House on Friday as an “opportunity” to work together on lowering the cost of living for New Yorkers, NBC News reports.
It’s the Inflation, Stupid!
A new CBS News poll finds 68% disapprove of President Trump’s handling of inflation and the economy.
The entire poll is brutal:
- 58% say prices have been going up in last few weeks.
- 65% say Trump’s policies are making grocery prices go up.
- 77% of those judging Trump most on economy and inflation say he’s not spending enough time on it.
- 64% disapprove of his handling of economy.
Kimmel Still Defiant
“I’ll go when you go, OK? … If I may borrow a phrase from you: Quiet, Piggy!”
— Jimmy Kimmel, responding to new calls from Donald Trump that he be fired.
Crypto Lost $400 Billion Last Week
$400 billion
“A plunge in cryptocurrency assets accelerated Friday morning, led by bitcoin, which has lost more than a third of its value since setting an all-time high in October,” Axios reports. “The bloodbath has left no corner of the market untouched, and is reviving the debate about crypto as a long-term asset.”
Dems Well-Positioned in Lead-Up to Midterms
55% to 41%
The latest NPR/PBS News/Marist poll finds Democrats lead Republicans, 55% to 41%, when people were asked who they would vote for in their district if the election for Congress were held today. President Trump’s approval rating is just 39%, his lowest since right after the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol.
Our Fascist Idiocracy: Amb. Huckabee Welcomed Anti-US Spy Jonathan Pollard to Embassy White House issues implausble denial that Trump officials were unaware of the meeting

Times of Israel: Ambassador Mike Huckabee hosted a meeting at the US embassy in Jerusalem with Jonathan Pollard, the former spy who gave reams of classified American documents to Israel, The New York Times reported on Thursday…
According to the Times, it is unclear whether Huckabee got approval from the State Department ahead of the meeting. It said the meeting “alarmed” the CIA station chief in Israel, and the White House was not informed of it….
“It was a friendly meeting,” Pollard told the NYT. He said “a lot of things that came up in conversation,” while calling Trump a “madman who has literally sold us down the drain, for Saudi gold,” in apparent reference to the president’s recent decision to sell F-35 fighter jets to Riyadh.
Mile-High Civility

The U.S. DOT wants to restore “courtesy and class to air travel,”
Saying crowded flights and delays are no cause for civility to ravel.
You should “dress with respect,”
Maintain a calm, mannerly aspect,
But if they really want change, get the airlines to stop treating flyers like cattle.
The ‘Parasocial’ Paradox

Many people these days think it’s cool and hip
To cultivate one-directional “parasocial” relationships.
They relate to celebs, podcasters and chatbots,
Without reciprocity of feelings or thoughts,
Creating entirely one-sided, one-way mythical friendships.
