Climate Scientists are from Earth, Kentucky Lawmakers are from Mars

I don’t want get into the debate about climate change. But I’ll simply point out that I think in academia we all agree that the temperature on Mars is exactly as it is here. Nobody will dispute that. Yet there are no coal mines on Mars. There’s no factories on Mars that I’m aware of.

— Kentucky state Sen. Brandon Smith (R), quoted by WFPL, apparently not knowing that the average temperature on Mars is -67 degrees F.

Palin Hints She’d Like to Have a Political Talk Show

But the politics would have to be interspersed with a whole lot of fun and real life and inspiration showcasing American work ethic, because those topics are all pretty much the antithesis of today’s politics, which I find incorrigibly disastrous! It’d be so much fun to shake it up taking on issues that make audiences objectively consider all sides, and I’d do it with my own real-life groundedness, candor and commonsense that I’m known for. Media needs that today, versus the condescension that oozes from TV and radio… You know, someone willing to go rogue.

— Former vice president candidate and now nobody Sarah Palin, telling the Hollywood Reporter that she might be interested in hosting a political talk show.

Joko Widodo and Prabowo Subianto, a former army general under the late authoritarian ruler Suharto.”

The float apparently was approved by the parade organizers, the Odd Fellows Club, since it had an official float number in the windshield.

Republicans’ Irrational Hatred of Pres. Obama Skewed Poll That Named Him Worst President

Democrats split their choice for worst president among Bush and Nixon, while Republicans went solidly for Obama

A recent Quinnipiac poll found that 33 percent of Americans believe Pres. Obama is the worst president since World War II, while just 28 percent give that dishonor to George W. Bush.

How could this possibly be? The record overwhelmingly supports the proposition that George W. Bush was easily the most inept president since the war:
