A new hashtag is lighting up on Twitter: #RomneyHardships. Among those listed:

  • So many connecting flights to get to your Swiss banks
  • “I can’t hire illegals, I’m running for President for Pete’s sake.”
  • So annoying that they won’t just let me buy Twitter outright…
  • Nobody ever has change for a $10,000 bill.
  • Car elevator becomes stuck between Bentley and Ferrari floors
  • Having to pretend the greatest achievement of your time as Mass. governor never happened
  • Not being able to “retroactively retire” from this miserable loser of a race
  • Fact-checkers
  • Trying to avoid situations where he’ll have to admit he thinks his mormon god lives on the planet Kolob

A promoted tweet from Paul Ryan appears at the top of the search: “Our economy runs on freedom, not government. It’s time we put our faith back in the American people #BelieveInAmerica #RomneyRyan2012”

In addition, there are a few tweets of support for Romney, including these completely not angry contributions:

  • Having to deal with the tremendous amount of morons who think 4yrs of failure isn’t enough…#fail
  • Paying $4,000,000.00 in taxes in one year, only to have zero-paying recipients whine he’s not paying his “fair share”

Obama Passes Romney in August Fund Raising

Amount raised by the Obama campaign during August, outstripping the Romney campaign (by $3 million) for the first time since April. Adding Rep. Paul Ryan to the ticket and holding the Republican convention during August didn’t push Romney’s donations for the month past Obama’s, which came from 1.1 million people giving an average of $52 each. Romney’s money came from 820,000 donors giving about $250 each. The Republicans, of course, are still blocking out the sun with super PAC donations.

The media wasted no time trying to make equivalency arguments about how just as much fiction was bandied by Democrats on the first night of their convention as by Republicans during theirs. Fact-checkers, however, could find little to rival Lyin’ Ryan or Refit Mitt. Here’s the most FactCheck.org could come up with.

— “The keynote speaker and others claimed the Republican presidential nominee, Mitt Romney, would raise taxes on the ‘middle class.’ He has promised he won’t. Democrats base their claim on a study that doesn’t necessarily lead to that conclusion.”

Romney has yet to reveal what he will do if elected, other than retaining the Bush tax cuts for those at the top of the income ladder. The Wall St. Journal described the findings in the study, conducted by the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center.

Mitt Romney’s Likability Surges 5 Points Post-Convention – to 31%

Mitt Romney’s likability rating in the first Reuters/Ipsos poll released since the Republican Convention. This represents a five-point improvement over his 26 percent likability rating in the same poll released on Monday before the convention. Among independents, Romney’s likability rose from 16 percent to 20 percent. By contrast, Pres. Obama’s likability rating is 48 percent.

Buzz Over FOX News’ “Resident Liberal” Using L-Word to Describe Paul Ryan’s Speech

Who knew FOX News even had a “resident liberal?” Apparently they do, and the internets are afire over Sally Kohn’s description of Rep. Paul Ryan’s Republican National convention speech titled, Paul Ryan’s Speech in 3 Words: Dazzling, Deceiving, and Distracting.

Two things set apart the column from the others from fact-checkers who dispute almost every word uttered by Ryan and Romney. First, Kohn uses the L-word, something most mainstream outlets bar.

…to anyone paying the slightest bit of attention to facts, Ryan’s speech was an apparent attempt to set the world record for the greatest number of blatant lies [emphasis added] and misrepresentations slipped into a single political speech. On this measure, while it was Romney who ran the Olympics, Ryan earned the gold.
