Crist Continues to Demonstrate His Special Brand of Leadership

I have to hand it to Florida Gov. Charlie Crist (NPA), whose wardrobe choice for a recent roundtable with the president in Panama City helped him stand out. Charlie and the First Lady went with aqua, while the business owners, Navy Secretary Ray Mabus, and others stuck to neutrals. If you’re going to go, go bold, Crist seems to say, while sitting as far from Obama as possible without leaving the room. No doubt Crist wants to avoid more photos of himself seeming friendly with the president. The endless repetition by Republicans of a shot of Crist doing the one-armed man hug with Obama last year could have been one reason for his departure from their party as a candidate for U.S. Senate. Well that, and the fact that they are soulless jerks.

Judson Phillips, head of Tea Party Nation, hosts of the convention where Palin wrote her crib notes on her hand, showed whose side he’s really on yesterday when he endorsed Rep. Joe Barton’s (R-Texas) apology to BP’s CEO Tony Hayward over the company’s agreement with Pres. Obama to set up a $20 billion escrow account to cover damages from its oil spill disaster in the Gulf.

Barton, who will be chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee if Republicans win control of the House in November, called the escrow account a “shakedown.” But that was too mild for Phillips, who upped the ante.

Speaker-To-Be Boehner
Speaker-To-Be Boehner
If Republicans win back Congress this November, House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) is in line to replace Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) as speaker. At his weekly press conference this week, Boehner was asked who should pay for cleaning up the Gulf oil spill:

“I think the people responsible in the oil spill — BP and the federal government — should take full responsibility for what’s happening there,” Boehner said at his weekly press conference…

Yea, those nasty feds. Greedy, grimy bastards. Let’s stick it to ’em!

Hey, wait a minute. The “federal government?” He means us — the American taxpayers. But wouldn’t that be like a bail out of BP?

Wait ’til the tea baggers hear about this!
