Obama: Congress Isn’t Broken, the GOP is Broken

So when you hear a false equivalence that somehow, well, Congress is just broken, it’s not true. What’s broken right now is a Republican Party that repeatedly says no to proven, time-tested strategies to grow the economy, create more jobs, ensure fairness, open up opportunity to all people.

— President Obama, quoted by Greg Sargent.

Obama’s Approval Rating Remains Much Higher Than Congress’

51%

President Obama’s job approval rating. By comparison, just 22% approve of the job Republican leaders in Congress are doing, among the lowest approval rating for congressional leaders from either party in 20 years. A record-high 80% say Obama and Republican leaders are not working together to address important issues facing the country, and by nearly two-to-one (42%-22%) more blame Republican leaders than Obama for the gridlock.

Obama Explains Politics 101

Here’s a general rule. You don’t put stuff on your head if you’re president. That’s politics 101. You never look good wearing something on your head.

— President Obama, after two Navy football players presented him with a helmet. USA Today reports someone in the crowd at the ceremony shouted “put it on.” But he refused, then explained why.

What’s a Day?

Obama and Co. wanted Tuesday,
But Boehner and Co. shouted “Ixnay!
If you want our blessing
To speak at a joint session,
You’re gonna have to move it to Wednesday!”

“See, on Tuesday our candidates are debatin’
Whether, indeed, you are Satan.
You can either compete with the NFL
Or take your speech and go back to hell.
NO! is what this Party of No is sayin’.”
