Plumber Joe Wants a White Republican President Because He’s an American

Admit it. You want a white Republican president again. Now before you start feeling like you’re a racist, understand you are not. Wanting a white Republican president doesn’t make you racist, it just makes you American.

— Joe “Joe the Plumber” Wurzelbacher, the everyman used by John McCain in the 2008 presidential campaign, in a new post on his website.

Shutdown Hits Republican Base: KKK Konclave at Gettysburg National Park Is Canceled

NBC10 Philadelphia:

A planned Ku Klux Klan rally at a historic landmark of American history won’t happen due to the federal government shutdown.

The KKK event at Gettysburg National Military Park was canceled due to the government stalemate.

Park officials said they rescinded all permits for special events because of the shutdown that began Tuesday.

The permit had been approved for a Maryland-based KKK group, the Confederate White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, for a Saturday gathering.

Justice Dept. Takes Action Against North Carolina GOP’s Voter Suppression Laws

Another humiliation for my old home state. Until now, North Carolina was one of the few Old Confederacy states that was not covered by the Voting Rights Act, because, unlike the others, the Democrats who ran the state insisted that voting be open to all who were eligible. Now, just 10 months electing the first Republican-controlled government since the 1870s, those days are over. If the Justice Department prevails, NC will be covered by the VRA just like every other state run by neo-Confederates, and will have to submit its plans for changing voter regulations to the courts in advance for approval.

Campaign Rally for Virginia GOP Governor Candidate Kicks off with Anti-Semitic Joke

Transcript of remarks by John Whitbeck, the chairman of Virginia’s 10th Congressional District Republican Committee, in his introduction of Virginia GOP gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli:

WHITBECK: You know, I’m a Catholic, and one of the things … and one of the things we celebrated recently was [garbled], and when the pope was elected, the head of the Jewish faith goes to the Vatican and brings a ceremonial piece of paper. It’s very old. It dates back hundreds of years. And he comes in the pope’s office and he ceremonially hands the piece of paper to the pope, the new pope, and the new pope ceremonially rejects it. And then the head of the Jewish faith leaves. [Garbled.] This time around, the Pope says, “I gotta find out what’s on this piece of paper.” So he actually takes it from the head of the Jewish faith, he opens it, he looks at, he closes it, he grimaces. And his Jewish counterpart says, “What what is?” And he says, “Well, that was the bill from the Last Supper.” So, on that note, we’re waiting for Ken Cuccinelli and he’s on his way.

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Kentucky, Quietly Fires White Supremacist Aide Once Known As the ‘Southern Avenger’

From left: Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul, Hunter with and without his Southern Avenger mask

Multiple media sources are confirming that Jack Hunter, the white supremacist aide to Republican Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, has “resigned” two weeks after he was outed as the Southern Avenger, a neo-Confederate columnist and radio personality famous for hiding his identity behind a cloth mask depicting a Confederate flag. Hunter also co-authored Rand Paul’s book,”The Tea Party Goes to Washington.”

After the announcement was made public, Hunter’s former editor at a South Carolina news outlet published an editorial claiming that Hunter asked him to delete all the Avenger’s columns from the outlet’s website.

In a statement to a fellow conservative who writes for the Daily Caller, the right-wing propaganda website owned by Swanson Foods heir Tucker Carlson, Hunter said:

GOP Is Out to Create a Black Democratic Party in the South

In private discussions, Republicans in the South talk explicitly about their goal of turning the Democratic Party into a black party, and in many Southern states they have succeeded. African-American legislators make up the majority of state House and Senate Democratic caucuses in most of the Southern states.

Supreme Court Reanimates the Corpse of Jim Crow

Despite the Supreme Court ruling against Prop 8, the federal court has ordered a 25-day delay in resumption of same-sex marriage in California, but within hours after the Supremes overturned a key section of the Voting Rights Act, Southern Neo-Confederates announced that they would make their voter suppression laws effective immediately:
