The latest Marketplace-Edison Research survey shows economic anxiety “is up to 36 from 30 a year ago (the scale runs 0-100). But that’s not the depressing part of the poll’s findings. It’s this: 25 percent of Americans ‘completely distrust the economic data reported by the federal government, including statistics like the unemployment rate, the number of jobs added, and the amount of consumer spending.’ Perhaps unsurprisingly, that number soars to 48% of Donald Trump supporters compared to just 5% of Hillary Clinton supporters.”

Donald Trump had just 14% support, behind Libertarian Gary Johnson (15%) and “Don’t Know/No Opinion” (15%).

The U.S. unemployment rate for August,down from 5.3 percent, the lowest since April 2008, ABC News reports. “The U.S. unemployment rate fell to a seven-year low in August as employers added a modest 173,000 jobs, a key piece of evidence for the Federal Reserve in deciding whether to raise interest rates from record lows later this month.”

U.S. Economy Has Added More than 1 Million Jobs Since January

Number of new jobs the U.S. economy has added so far in 2015, according to CNNMoney. In a good sign for people looking for work, the U.S. economy gained 280,000 jobs in May. Economists surveyed by CNNMoney projected there would only be 222,000 jobs gains. The unemployment rate ticked up slightly in May to 5.5%, according to the Labor Department. That increase is a sign that more people returned to look for work in May, economists say.

Facts are facts, and numbers are numbers. Whether “you’re the person” for whom things aren’t getting better doesn’t change the fact that THINGS ARE GETTING BETTER.
