Will Florida’s Three-Way Senate Race Revert to a Two-Way?
Rumors are flying in Florida after this week’s debate among the three candidates for the U.S. Senate. One scenario, put forth by the Wall St. Journal, says Democrats might be pressuring U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek (D-Fla.) to drop out of the race, leaving only Gov. Charlie Crist and former state House Speaker Marco Rubio to duke it out.
Should Meek give his concession speech now, or wait until after the election?
With Meek’s poll numbers showing no bump after the debate, and with groups like the Florida Sierra Club offering dual endorsements of both him and Crist, Meek really has two choices: quit and lose now, or stay in and lose later.
The candidate himself, though, seems still in fighting mode. After the Sierra Club’s odd move, Meek upped the oddness quotient by refusing the endorsement. He also made it clear he’s tired of people forgetting that Charlie Crist is neither a Democrat nor a true environmentalist.

Palin to Do RNC Fundraiser in California, But Given Her 69% Disapproval Among Inds, GOP’s Whitman, Fiorina Will Be No-Shows
Sarah Palin will headline a fundraiser in California for the cash-strapped, deficit-spending Republican National Committee on Oct. 16. But with Palin viewed unfavorably by well over two-thirds of California’s independent voters, the state’s two top GOP candidates are sending regrets. It’s likely gubernatorial nominee Meg Whitman, who just can’t seem to find good household help these days, will be cleaning toilets in her mansion. And the U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina will likely be washing her hair.
RNC Donations Down $3.8 Mil After Palin Signs Fundraising Letter in Return for RNC’s Paying Legal Bills Related to Her Ethics Charges

Amount by which the Republican National Committee missed its fundraising goal in September after Sarah Palin signed a direct-mail letter seeking donations for the party, according to the right-wing cult-owned Washington Times newspaper. Palin signed the fundraising letter in return for the RNC’s agreement to pay $250,000 in legal bills related to various ethics charges filed against her during her brief stint as governor of Alaska.
Separately, the RNC treasurer also revealed that he had found an additional $1.7 million in unreported debt, more than doubling the Republican Party’s insovlency to $2.8 million.
Meanwhile, the Democratic National Committee broke fundraising records in September, collecting $16 million, mostly in small amounts from enthusiastic donors.
