Rick Warren Forgives Whoever Sold His Son the Gun He Used to Kill Himself. But Should He?

That was quick. Saddleback Church pastor Rick Warren wasted no time in forgiving the person who sold online an unregistered handgun with the serial number filed off to his son, who used it to kill himself.

On the Thursday following 27-year-old Matthew Warren’s death on Friday, his father tweeted:

Someone on the internet sold Matthew an unregistered gun.I pray he seeks God’s forgiveness. I forgive him. #MATTHEW 6:15

The passage cited reads, from the New International version of the bible, “But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”

Warren is no doubt using the quick logic that if his son hadn’t gotten that gun he would have gotten another, because someone who is bent on suicide will find a way. But he should slow down and, painful as the truth is, examine that idea.

At Last: The Gay Agenda Explained

Interesting comments are sometimes left on our posts, although there can be a time delay between when the post is written and when comments appear. We assume this happens because someone was doing a search for a topic and up we popped.

So here’s a recent comment on an old post (May of 2011), from someone who signed his name “Matt Stone.” Matt finally explains the storied “gay agenda,” to which conservatives point. The subject of the post, from Jon Ponder, called, Guess What Percentage of Americans is Gay was that the estimates exaggerate the real number.

Matt starts his comment with a quote from the post.

“They claim it’s more like 2 percent — which prompts the question: If there are so few gay people, why all the fuss?”

Because in the late 70’s the gay community realized in order to gain legitimacy for their perversion they would have to re-brand their lifestyle from one governed by licentious behavior to one of social victimization.

Twitter Not Amused by Rubio’s Ill-Timed Tweet

PR’s own Buck nominated Florida Sen. Marco Rubio (GOP/Tea) for the “Really Trying Way Too Hard” Hall of Fame after Rubio told the gossip site TMZ that his favorite songs of all-time are NWA’s “Straight Outta Compton,” Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” and Tupac’s “Killuminati.”

The likely 2016 Republican presidential candidate, recently dubbed by Time Magazine the “saviour” of the party, is also brandishing a reputation as the life of the party, and nothing says frat boy quite like this tweet, posted the day the economy-wrecking sequester took effect.

Rubio apparently didn’t spend the day trying to figure out how to keep from damaging the economy or how to save American jobs, but instead daydreaming about his own fantasy football-esque dance party. Here were some of the responses to his call for suggestions on his Twitter feed.*

It’s probably futile to try to change current Republicans. It’s smarter to build a new wing of the Republican Party, one that can compete in the Northeast, the mid-Atlantic states, in the upper Midwest and along the West Coast. It’s smarter to build a new division that is different the way the Westin is different than the Sheraton … Would a coastal and Midwestern G.O.P. sit easily with the Southern and Western one? No, but majority parties are usually coalitions of the incompatible. This is really the only chance Republicans have. The question is: Who’s going to build a second G.O.P.?

Count Justice Antonin Scalia among those who consider homosexuality to be a lifestyle choice, like whether to drive an SUV or a hybrid; whether to vote Democratic or Republican; whether to have lunch at Taco Bell or McDonald’s.

But for those of us who know we couldn’t just wake up one day and “choose” to be attracted to one gender or the other (i.e., anyone who’s honest with him or herself and who is not bisexual) think Scalia’s recent comments, even though he’s trying to sell a book, are outrageous.

Scalia: If we legalize homosexuality, we’ll have to legalize masturbation and sex between consenting, unmarried adults too

“Many Americans do not want persons who openly engage in homosexual conduct as partners in their business, as scoutmasters for their children, as teachers in their children’s schools, or as boarders in their home,” Scalia wrote. “They view this as protecting themselves and their families from a lifestyle that they believe to be immoral and destructive.”

Why “Independent” Doesn’t Equate to “Idiot”

It’s hard for those of us who have absolutely no trouble whatsoever figuring out how to vote to understand what’s going on in the heads of “the undecideds.” It’s also easy to believe that they’re like the folks in this video, clueless morons distracted by irrelevant issues — and not all that bright.

When the dust settled, the choice given was Romney, a candidate McCain himself considered a poorer choice than Palin in 2008

But an essay* from a retired cop in Jacksonville named Jim Crosby, who’s changed parties several times, shows that not all independents are self-absorbed halfwits. In fact, some of them do a more thorough job of thinking through the issues and making a decision than those of us whose leanings in one direction or the other allow us to get there faster. Pat Robertson, Fresh Off the Campaign Trail with Mitt, Advises a Man to Beat His Wife

Keep in mind as you watch Pat Robertson advise a man whose wife insults him that he needs to move to Saudi Arabia so he can “become a Muslim and beat her,” that Mitt campaigned this weekend with Pat at his side. Make no mistake about the “conservative” attitude toward women: we are to submit to male authority and if we don’t, well a man’s got to do what a man’s got to do.

Nice try by the CBN host to save Pat from saying more, and to laugh off his comments, but we get it. It’s called the Republican War on Women, and it just keeps escalating.

Update: Someone on Facebook reminded us that Vice Pres. Joe Biden was the author of the Violence Against Women Act, and that our choice in November couldn’t be clearer.
