Trump Voters Biggest Losers Under Trumpcare
“Americans who swept President Trump to victory — lower-income, older voters in conservative, rural parts of the country — stand to lose the most in federal healthcare aid under a Republican plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act,” according to a Los Angeles Times analysis of county voting and tax credit data. “Among those hit the hardest under the current House bill are 60-year-olds with annual incomes of $30,000. In nearly 1,500 counties nationwide, such a person stands to lose more than $6,000 a year in federal insurance subsidies. Ninety percent of those counties backed Trump, the analysis shows.”
Is the Trumpcare Bill Intended to Fail?
Quietly, the idea that the House bill is designed to fail is percolating around Washington. I’ve heard it from a half-dozen people now. The law’s construction is shoddy. The outreach has been nonexistent. The hypocritical, hyper-accelerated process is baffling. Nothing about it makes sense. … But if you flip the intention — if you assume Republican leaders want to see a repeal-and-replace bill die in the Senate so they can say they tried and move on to tax reform — all of a sudden, it makes much more sense. It explains why more time wasn’t spent getting the bill right. It explains why they’re going so fast. It explains why they don’t care what the Congressional Budget Office says. It explains why they aren’t doing the outreach that would normally buffer them from this backlash.

Brookings: 15 Million Will Lose Insurance Under House Bill
15 million
A new Brookings Institution report suggests that at least 15 million people will lose their health care insurance under the House Republican plan currently being considered. Key finding: “Estimates could be higher, but it’s is unlikely they will be significantly lower.”
Trumpcare Passes Two House Committees
2
“Two key House committees have approved a Republican proposal to replace the Affordable Care Act, giving the bill its first victories even as the Senate’s top Republican expressed concern about the absence of a price tag,” the Washington Post reports.
CBO? What CBO?
The Trumpcare bill pits Republicans either against or for it,
But Trump’s not waiting for the Congressional Budget Office to score it.
He thinks that by rushing,
Opposition they are crushing
And when the negative CBO report comes out, he’ll just ignore it.
What You Asked For
Obama didn’t like it when the GOP named it “Obamacare.”
Trump doesn’t like it now Dems call his “Trumpcare.”
But for all those covered by the ACA
Who voted for Trump that fateful day,
The GOP’s repeal and replace should be renamed “Chumpcare.”
Trouble with Trumpcare
Trump’s fully behind Trumpcare — he’s on the warpath,
But meanwhile House Republicans are doing the math.
If they pass the bill ‘n’
Take coverage from 10 million,
The 2018 midterms look like a “bloodbath.”
