The number of African-American candidates running for South Carolina statewide office in 2014. “Some could be eliminated in June’s primary elections, but it appears at least three black candidates will make it to November’s general election,” The State reports. “South Carolina also is assured to elect its first African-American candidate in a statewide race since Reconstruction in one U.S. Senate race, where all three of the announced candidates are black.”

That was $6.3 million more than the top Republicans in those races.”

The NSA leaks were met with Republican indignation.
They said Edward Snowden was a disgrace to the nation.

They first said Snowden’s leak was a defection,
But now they see his point, upon reflection.
He gave them insights
Into things that weren’t right,

Toss-up Senate races in 2012 were won by the candidate with the more engaged Facebook fan base, Politico notes. “And in the 2012 House elections, 20 of the 33 most competitive races across the country were won by the candidate with a measurable Facebook fan engagement advantage.”
Liz Cheney Pulls a Palin: Quits Race for Wyoming U.S. Senate Seat
The AP is reporting that Liz Cheney, the right-wing extremist daughter of George W. Bush’s vice president, has quit her bid to oust Wyoming’s equally conservative senator, Mike Enzi:
Cheney cited “serious health issues” that “have recently arisen in our family” as the reason for her decision, according to a statement quoted in The New York Times.
The GOP official confirming Cheney’s decision spoke on condition of anonymity because the official was not authorized to speak on the record.
Cheney moved her family from Virginia to Wyoming to run for the seat. Her effort to replace Enzi, a Senate veteran, angered and upset many Republicans and her campaign faced a number of problems.
