Rep. Chris Murphy Calls Lowe’s on Its Cowardice

“Lowe’s defends itself by saying they’re pulling these ads because some of their customers have, quote, strong political and social views on this topic. Well congratulations to Lowe’s for acknowledging that there are some really bigoted people in the world. That doesn’t mean that Lowe’s or any other company should acquiesce to this kind of behavior. For instance, there are unfortunately a lot of people out there who still hold racist views about African-Americans, but I don’t think that Lowe’s is going to be pulling its ads from television shows featuring African-Americans.”

Occupy Wall Street’s planned protest at Lincoln Center turned into an amazing moment (skip to 3:00 in the video) with Philip Glass reading the closing lines from his opera “Satyagraha,” echoed by the people in attendance.

The words: “When righteousness withers away and evil rules the land, we come into being, age after age, and take visible shape, and move, a man among men, for the protection of good, thrusting back evil and setting virtue on her seat again.”

Ron Paul’s Newt Gingrich Attack Ad. O.K., But Why?

Here’s Ron Paul’s take on Newt Gingrich. Of course, Paul considers showing Newt with Nancy Pelosi incendiary, and quotes Rush Limbaugh as if he were someone with a right to be outraged over someone else’s hypocrisy and moral infidelity. The ad does point out just a few of the many reasons we should all hate Newt but it doesn’t answer the question of why Ron Paul is going after him. I mean, of all Paul’s fellow primary contender whack jobs, why Newt? Did Paul produce negative ads about Bachmann or Cain? Maybe some Ron-ulans can enlighten me here.
