We endorse Trump for president in the belief he can bring about fundamental change — not alone, but in partnership with his party and a coalition of others drawn from every walk of life who think we can do better than what government has offered under eight years of President Obama.

— The St. Joseph (Mo.) News-Press, endorsing Donald Trump. The Santa Barbara News-Press of Santa Barbara, Calif., also declared for Trump — his first endorsements from a newspaper.

A new Monmouth poll finds Hillary Clinton is currently ahead of Donald Trump among likely voters nationally, 50% to 38%, with Gary Johnson at 5%. Said pollster Patrick Murray: “Clinton has increased her lead among all registered voters, but the main difference between this month and last month is that her supporters have become more enthusiastic, and thus more likely to turn out while Trump backers have become less likely to vote.”

Given the profound stakes of this one, and the history that stands to be made, we feel that should change. Vogue endorses Hillary Clinton for president of the United States.

No Path to Victory for Trump

It would be a mistake to call Trump’s current path to an electoral college victory narrow. It is nonexistent. Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, once part of the Trump scenario, have never been ‘in play,’ and he is not competitive in 2012 states Obama won only narrowly, such as Virginia and Colorado. Trump is more likely to lose North Carolina than win it, which would put him under 200 electoral votes. … Frankly, the writing has been on the wall for months about this race. You simply needed to look at the candidates, their campaign teams, the map and the voters.
