Mitt Romney has famously said that “of course” he would have made the same decisions that led to the death of Osama bin Laden as Pres. Obama did. Obama, we will recall, elected to launch a Navy Seals attack without tipping off the Pakistani government because he had good intelligence on bin Laden’s whereabouts and no reason to trust the Pakistanis. Had the plan gone wrong, “of course,” we imagine Romney would have found much to fault.
We also know that in 2007, when he was running for president last, Romney echoed the sentiments of Pres. George W. Bush, who said he didn’t give a rat’s ass if we ever found bin Laden. Romney put it this way: “It’s not worth moving heaven and earth, spending billions of dollars just trying to catch one person.”
Since Romney now says if he were president, he would have done exactly what Pres. Obama did, I think it’s a good time to list some of the other things that Romney would have done if he were the person who did them, which he is not.
- Mitt Romney would have invented the iPad, if he were Steve Jobs, except he isn’t
- Mitt Romney would have exposed himself to lethal radiation to keep the Fukushima plant from a nuclear meltdown if he were one of the 130 technicians and 50 volunteers who did so, even though he didn’t
- Mitt Romney would have married Kate Middleton, if he were Prince William, which he’s not
- Mitt Romney would have safely landed the plane in the Hudson River if he were a U.S. Airways pilot named Sully, which he isn’t
- Mitt Romney would have thrown the ball 38 yards to win the 2012 Super Bowl if he were the quarterback of the New York Giants, except he’s not
- Mitt Romney would have braved gunfire to apply life-saving pressure to the head wounds of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords if he were a young intern in the congresswoman’s office, which he wasn’t
- Mitt Romney would have launched a new world tour even without Clarence Clemmons if he were The Boss, which he’s not
What else do you think Mitt Romney would have done if he weren’t Mitt Romney? Post your additions to the list here.

Romney would have been president if he could have been McCain in ’08.
Romney would have given the “I Had A Dream” speech if he was in Dr. King’s spot in 1963.
Of course, Romney would have turned water into wine. It was the only call.
Romney would have donated the Polio vaccine to humanity; OK, I couldn’t keep a straight face.
