Palin Drops the Ditzy Act at Governor’s Conference

O.K., lord knows I don’t want to make anyone have to watch more Sarah Palin than they already have. BUT. Take a look at about a minute or so of Palin’s address at the Republican Governor’s Conference:

Whoa! She forms complete sentences. She drops that faux-Fargo-Frances McDormand accent. She even tosses out the word, “plenary” as if she’d used it before.

Now let’s review her performance here, when she mistook fans for protesters at one of her recent campaign stops.

Which is the real Sarah Palin? I suspect it’s the one we saw at the Governor’s Conference. I never thought Palin was as dumb as she would have the people she hopes are even dumber believe. Be warned.

National Enquirer: Cindy McCain’s Been Cheating

The National Enquirer is at it again, and we can only hope their record on exposing extramarital affairs is upheld in this case. After all, who could blame Cindy McCain?

The wealthy blonde heiress and her secret pal have been spotted together around her hometown of Phoenix, Arizona over the past several years, say sources.

Could it be that John McCain was right? That Cindy really is a trollop and a…

The amazing spy photos were snapped April 1, 2006 when Cindy and her companion attended the Tempe Music Festival says the person who took them. The photos are somewhat grainy, but the insider says they depict Senator John McCain’s wife, who was greeted by pals at the event as “Cindy.”

“To my amazement, Cindy had her hand on his shoulder and was kissing him passionately on his lips,” the photog told THE ENQUIRER.

Let’s face it, you would have been really amazed if she had been kissing him passionately anywhere except the lips.

We’re on pins and needles waiting to see who the mystery man is, or if that’s even really Cindy. Could it be that John McCain was right? That Cindy really is a trollop and a…no, I can’t.

Palin Skulking for an Opening to Run Again

Everybody! Stop what you’re doing and go check your doors! Now! Make sure they are closed and locked. And some nails would be good too.

“I’m like, OK, God, if there is an open door for me somewhere, this is what I always pray, I’m like, don’t let me miss the open door,” [Gov. Sarah] Palin said in an interview with Fox News on Monday. “And if there is an open door in ’12 or four years later, and if it is something that is going to be good for my family, for my state, for my nation, an opportunity for me, then I’ll plow through that door.”

On second thought, just brick over the opening. We can’t take any chances.

Why Are the Dems Still Dancing with Lieberman?

liebermanmccain.jpg
Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut needs to go. To the Republican Party. Now.

He met with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid yesterday and for some reason Reid didn’t throw him bodily from the party or take away his chairmanship of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, or at the very least paste him one in the kisser for endorsing John McCain at the Republican Convention.

First, the little weasel loses in the Democratic primary, so he flops over to run as an independent, winning to retain his Senate seat and chairmanship.

Meanwhile, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has reached out to Lieberman about joining the Republican Conference. But since the Dems haven’t gotten up the gumption to give him a swift kick in that direction, Lieberman is still bargaining with Democratic leaders to keep his chairmanship.

Lieberman should be toast, not the prom queen everybody wants to date

And make no mistake, as usual with Lieberman, it’s not about party or personal loyalty, it’s all about Lieberman. Lieberman’s just out to negotiate the best deal for Lieberman — on Liebermanian terms, of course:

A Republican Senate aide said Friday morning that there was little McConnell could offer in terms of high-ranking committee slots, which is why Lieberman is resisting overtures from the Republican side.

Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Lieberman met Thursday, yet Reid is waffling over whether to revoke Lieberman’s chairmanship of the Homeland Security Committee and may instead hold a secret vote among Democratic members on whether to kick Lieberman out of the caucus.

Senate aides from both parties caution that Lieberman’s state is still truly up in the air and Reid could still craft a scenario where Lieberman keeps his chairmanship.

Yeah, and if you pull on my finger, monkeys will fly out of my butt.

Lieberman should be toast, not the prom queen everybody wants to date. If the Republicans want him for a mascot, the Democratic Party should leave him twisting in the wind. Trouble is, here just a few days after the election, the majority is not acting like a majority and the minority is still acting like the majority.

Borowitz Scoop: Palin to be Ambassador to Africa

Favorite satirist Andy Borowitz is reporting a new role for Sarah Palin: ambassador to the country of Africa.

Sarah Palin of Alaska has reached out to President-elect Obama’s transition team to indicate her interest in being named “ambassador to the nation of Africa,” the governor confirmed today.

Gov. Palin said that although she had planned to continue in her position in Anchorage, she was willing to leave the governorship “because Africa is just such a darned important country.”

She added that she had received phone calls encouraging her to vie for the post, including one from French president Nicholas Sarkozy.

Abramoff Claims Another Victim: Florida’s Tom Feeney

Two other pieces of good news from Florida. U.S. Rep. Tom Feeney (R-East Central Florida) was soundly trounced by former state Rep. Suzanne Kosmas. Feeney was one of the poster children for the corrupt Tom DeLay/Jack Abramoff years, enjoying an infamous golfing excursion to Scotland on the lobbyist’s bankroll among many other gifts.

Kosmas forced Feeney to address his misdeeds squarely, resulting in what passes for an “apology” from a Republican, which means he said he didn’t do anything wrong, and even if he did it wasn’t his fault, and gosh, how did he know it was bad to be bought and sold by power-brokers?

The other news is interesting if suspicious. U.S. Rep. Adam Putnam (R-Lakeland), who won re-election easily, announced he will step down as No. 3 in the Republican leadership of the House.

Franken Will Get Recount, Cites Poll “Irregularities”

Or, as FOX News put it, “Republican Norm Coleman had been named the winner of a second term in the U.S. Senate, but Al Franken is still holding out.”

In fact, Franken trailed Coleman by only 571 votes out of 2.9 million in the Minnesota Senate race. Gee, why can’t he just accept the will of the voters and move on? Yes, that’s sarcasm. Coleman and Franken had 42 percent of the vote each, while Jesse Ventura style Independent Dean Barkley received 15 percent.

Barkley, who then-Gov. Ventura appointed to fill the seat of Sen. Paul Wellstone for about eight weeks after his death and until Coleman’s inauguration, was polling around 17 percent before the election, but his supporters were expected to jump ship for either Coleman or Franken. Instead, most of them sat tight.

Franken says there is evidence of hanky-panky in the initial returns.

Palin Kicking Off 2012 Presidential Bid Early

Palin signs, left; Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, a contender for the VP slot, beams at McCain’s choice, right

Everyone seems to agree that whether John McCain wins or loses, Wednesday, Nov. 5 will be the first day of Sarah Palin’s 2012 race for president.

Then again, maybe it’s already started.

McCain’s name is missing from the signs at Sarah Palin’s Florida campaign stops

Looking around the Fantasy of Flight aircraft hangar where the [Palin] rally took place, one could see all the usual reminders that it was a pro-McCain event. There were two large “Country First” banners hung on the walls…Many of the men and women in the audience wore McCain hats and t-shirts.

But on closer inspection, the GOP nominee’s name was literally nowhere to be found on any of the official campaign signage distributed to supporters at the event…

The other sign handed out to supporters read “Florida is Palin Country,” but those signs were neither paid for by the Republican National Committee nor the McCain campaign. In small print, the signs were stamped with the line “Paid for and authorized by Putnam for Congress” — as in, the re-election campaign of Florida congressman Adam Putnam, whose district skirts Polk City.

Putnam plus Palin is a match made in hell, and I would not be at all surprised to see the two spawns of Satan work together in the future. Palin/Putnam in 2012? Sure, why not?

Putnam, after all, is the third ranking Republican in the House of Representatives. He took his place on the national media stage after he peddled a false story about new House Speaker Nancy Pelosi supposedly demanding a larger plane than former Speaker Denny Hastert’s. Putnam’s lies about Pelosi knocked the story of Florida Republican Rep. Mark Foley’s resignation over a scandal involving teen male pages off the radar. The fact that the Pelosi story wasn’t true was to Putnam a small detail.

He’s just Sarah Palin’s type of guy.

Palin’s Missing Medical Records: Depends on Your Definition of “Early”

We are all waiting for Sarah Palin’s medical records to be released, as she continues to be the only one of the candidates on a presidential ticket to have not done so.

On Sunday morning, Palin spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt told ABC News that the campaign had planned to release information on her medical history early this week.

Palin herself says there’s nothing in the records that would surprise anyone. Then again, Palin herself said an ethics investigation exonerated her of misuse of power when the opposite was true.

“So be it, if that will allow some curiosity seekers, perhaps, to have one more thing that they can either check the box off that they can find something to criticize, perhaps, or find something to rest them assured over. Fine. I’m healthy, I’m happy, had five kids. That is going to be in the medical records. Never been seriously ill or hurt. You will see that in the medical records if they’re released,” Palin told NBC’s Brian Williams.

Two things here. First, Palin made a point of saying she’s had five kids. What do you want to bet the records clearly confirm four, and then hem and haw about No. 5? Second, what was that part about “if they’re released.” I’m betting it will be a very hot day in Alaska before that actually happens.
