All the Economic News is Not Good

Trump continues to claim credit for the economic recovery that was well under way, and handed to him by Pres. Obama, when he took office. His supporters acted as if the Dow hitting 20,000 was Trump’s work alone, possibly because their guy told them so. As the unemployment rate continues the decline it was already experiencing under Obama, Trump will no doubt bask in the glory.

But there’s another economic number that Trump can rightfully own. The decline in the strength of the U.S. dollar is all on him.

A timely reminder from the part of Florida known as the “Redneck Riviera:” When traveling over the summer, remember to take your gun home with you.

Travelers often leave behind personal items when they check out of an Airbnb or other vacation rental, but police in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. have noticed a particular absentmindedness on the part of those who just can’t be without their guns. They remember to bring them to their relaxing getaway on the shores of the Gulf, but they forget to take them home.

…according to Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Corey Dobridnia…a total of 20 guns have been turned in since Memorial Day. Ninety percent came from vacation homes.

Since the guns are either reunited with owners through the diligent efforts of the property owners or used for police training, what’s the harm, you might ask? […]

A new Politico/Morning Consult poll finds 60% of Americans say the Trump administration is running somewhat or very chaotically, compared to only 33% who say it is running well. The survey was conducted entirely prior to the ouster of Anthony Scaramucci as White House communications director, and was already in the field when Reince Priebus left the chief of staff position.

Pity poor Anthony Scaramucci: reportedly getting divorced, sacked from his job after a mere 10 days — and now there’s an erroneous report that he’s dead,” the Washington Post reports.

“The blink-and-you-missed-him former White House communications director is listed as deceased in the new Harvard Law School alumni directory, which arrived in alums’ mailboxes the very week that “The Mooch” became the most talked-about guy in politics. An asterisk by the 1989 graduate’s name indicates that he was reported dead since the last directory, which was published in 2011.”
