Trump Might Live-Tweet During Comey’s Testimony

“The President is expected to be tweeting on Thursday in response to Comey — not to stay quiet during the testimony — because he himself wants to be the one driving the process.”

— Roberta Costa of the Washington Post, telling MSNBC that President Donald Trump might take to Twitter on Thursday in reaction to the planned congressional testimony of former FBI Director James Comey.

Finally, a Way to Stomach Trump’s Tweets

A POTUS tweet turned statement dated June 6, 2017
A POTUS tweet turned official statement dated June 6, 2017 — seven months after the 2016 election

I quit following @POTUS on Twitter when the account became Trump’s, and quit @realDonaldTrump at the same time. I didn’t want to see tweets from 45, or award him one more follower.

But a new bot, which turns Trump’s tweets into the official White House press statements that they actually are, is making me reconsider allowing messages from the current office holder.

Trump’s D.C. Hotel Received $270k from Saudis

$270,000

President Trump’s Washington hotel “received roughly $270,000 in payments linked to Saudi Arabia as part of a lobbying campaign by the Gulf kingdom against a controversial piece of terrorism legislation last year,” the Wall Street Journal reports. “The payments—for catering, lodging and parking—were disclosed by the public relations firm MSLGroup last week in paperwork filed with the Justice Department documenting foreign lobbying work on behalf of Saudi Arabia and other clients.”

Majority Disagrees with Trump’s Decision on Paris Accord

59% to 28%

A new Washington Post-ABC News poll finds most Americans oppose President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris climate agreement, 59% to 28%. “The reactions also break down sharply among partisan lines, though Republicans are not as united in support of the withdrawal as Democrats are in opposition of it. A 67% majority of Republicans support Trump’s action, but that drops to 22% among political independents and 8% of Democrats. Just over 6 in 10 independents and 8 in 10 Democrats oppose Trump’s action.”

One Lawmaker’s Solution to Radical Islam: Kill Them All

“The free world…all of Christendom…is at war with Islamic horror. Not one penny of American treasure should be granted to any nation who harbors these heathen animals. Not a single radicalized Islamic suspect should be granted any measure of quarter. Their intended entry to the American homeland should be summarily denied. Every conceivable measure should be engaged to hunt them down. Hunt them, identity them, and kill them. Kill them all. For the sake of all that is good and righteous. Kill them all.”

— Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA), in a post on Facebook.

Trump’s Approval Dropping Fast in Military Communities

43% to 52%

NBC News: “An analysis of Gallup polling data comparing the first 100 days of Trump’s presidency to the month of May shows that Trump’s job approval in military counties dropped sharply in the last month – from an average 51% approval and 41% disapproval in the first 100 days to 43% approval and 52% disapproval for May. … Taken together that is a 16-point swing, from a net +7 in the first 100 days to a net -9 in May. That’s far greater than the overall change in the Gallup data and it may be a sign of an important shift in those places.”
