Evidence Fox News Is Hurting the GOP
Bartlett’s accumulation of detail showing (a) that Fox’s core viewers are factually worse-informed than people who follow other sources, and even those who don’t follow news at all, and (b) that the mode of perpetual outrage that is Fox’s goal and effect has become a serious problem for the Republican party, in that it pushes its candidates to sound always-outraged themselves.
— James Fallows, in the Atlantic, commenting on a detailed study by Bruce Bartlett called “How Fox News Changed American Media and Political Dynamics.”
Clinton Kiboshes ‘Third Term’ Talk
We’re going to make clear, I’m not running for my husband’s third term or for President Obama’s third term. I’m running to make history on my own.

Christie Knows Baloney
They want you to think that there’s a government spook listening in every time you pick up the phone or Skype with your grandkids. They want you to think of our intelligence community as the bad guys, straight out of ‘The Bourne Identity’ or a Hollywood thriller, and they want you to think that if we weakened our capabilities, the rest of the world would love us more. Let me be clear: All these fears are baloney.
— Gov. Chris Christie (R), quoted by the Huffington Post, defending the National Security Agency.
Not Yet, Lindsey
We elected a black guy — the current White House resident.
If we elect Hillary, that would set a female precedent.
But it would incite mayhem,
If we elect Lindsey Graham,
Because the U.S. isn’t ready yet for a gay president.
