Knowing Another Boy Scout is Gay Will Turn Your Son Gay Too

The biggest problem will be a wave of boy-on-boy sexual activity on campouts and other overnight trips…Truth be told, there are scouts and leaders who are gay. But they have to be appropriately private and discreet about their sexuality and not “loud and proud.” Imagine openly gay men kissing and snuggling around the campfire in front of young boys.

John Stemberger, president of the Florida Family Policy Council, apparently a haven for homophobes. Stemberger made the remarks in an editorial in USA Today, which claimed he was an Eagle Scout and scoutmaster. Something tells us that Stemberger has already spent quite a bit of time imagining openly gay men kissing and snuggling around the campfire. Please note: Stemberger was allowed to be an Eagle Scout, but that gay kid in California wasn’t.

Majority of Americans Support Proposed Immigration Reforms

2/3

Of Americans favor each of five measures designed to address immigration issues — ranging from 68% who would vote for increased government spending on security measures and enforcement at U.S. borders, to 85% who would vote for a requirement that employers verify the immigration status of new hires, according to Gallup. More than seven in 10 would vote for a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants now living in this country.

Dick Morris Deserved to Be Fired by FOX News for Being an Incompetent Pundit

I’m not a big one for Schadenfreude but I confess to feeling a little frisson on hearing the news that Dick Morris was not getting his contract renewed by Fox News. It’s not that I wish Morris ill tidings; it’s that I want pundits to be held accountable for their incorrect forecasts… Morris’ [2012] performance earned him the title of ‘Worst Pundit of 2012’ by Pundit Tracker. That’s an impressive achievement considering all the competition. In mathematical terms, Morris was wrong 80% in his prognostications: if you had placed a dollar bet on each Morris prediction in a prediction market, you would have lost 70% of your money.

Hope for 2013

A horse, of course: Hope

For the sake of argument, let’s say there are no coincidences in this world (an idea otherwise known as Trish’s Law of No Coincidences).

If you disagree, then please explain to me how Americans choose the name “Hope” for the young Clydesdale featured in the 2013 Budweiser Super Bowl ad, which was born the weekend of Pres. Obama’s second inauguration.

Obama, for those who missed the last five years of history, has been needled and scorned by both Republicans and Democrats, by late-night comedians and old movie stars (O.K., maybe just Clint Eastwood), by Sarah Palin (“How’s that hopey-changy thing working for ya?”) and Hillary Clinton, all for his message of hope.
