Whoo-Hoo! We Just Got Our 50th “Like!”
Champagne corks are popping at Pensito Review because we just got our 50th Facebook “Like” today! Our thumbs are UP.
O.K., 50 might not sound like much to those of you with 637 “Friends,” but when you understand our past ambivalence toward Facebook, you’ll understand why it’s a big deal (not to be confused with health care reform, which is a BFD).
You see, Jon, our reluctant web guy, hates Facebook. Trish is O.K. with it, and Buck, who is actually a social media pioneer, just phones it in via Twitter with TweetDeck or HoopieSweetie or CheatPost or whatever program that is he uses for social networking.

It also didn’t help that, much as Jon hated Facebook a couple of years ago, he did put us on there. This was back when groups, organizations, etc. had “Friends” instead of “Likes.” So now we are stuck with www.facebook.com/pensitoreview going to the discontinued former page. And Facebook won’t let us reassign that perfect URL to our new page. We’re trying to think up a good new unique URL. The one it definitely won’t be is www.facebook.com/mypensito. Lord knows, we get enough penis jokes as it is.

Never mind that nothing in the text or history of the Constitution’s Commerce Clause indicates that Congress cannot mandate commercial purchases. The framers, challengers have claimed, thought a constitutional ban on purchase mandates was too “obvious” to mention. Their core basis for this claim is that purchase mandates are unprecedented, which they say would not be the case if it was understood this power existed.
Americans’ Approval of Congress Inexplicably Rises to 17%

Americans’ current approval rating for Congress. Though still low, this rating is the highest since last July. It was at 10% as recently as February. Approval is up among both Republicans and Democrats, who, inexplicably, rate Congress similarly.

Anti-Abortion Male Republican: ‘Sacred Sperm’ Bill Is ‘an Egregious Attack on Personal Liberties from the Government’
A “personhood act” passed by Republicans in the Oklahoma Senate earlier this year would ban all abortions, including in cases involving rape and incest. If the bill passes out of the legislature and the state’s Republican governor signs it into law, control over the reproductive systems of Oklahoma women will effectively be taken from the women themselves and handed over to the law enforcement apparatus of the state government.

In response, a pro-choice Democratic senator, Constance Johnson, introduced an “every sperm is sacred” bill that would outlaw what she described as the “depositing of sperm anywhere other than in a woman’s vagina.”
Not surprisingly, anti-abortion male politicians do not like Johnson’s amendment. The Daily Show’s Al Madrigal interviewed one of these senators, the perhaps ironically named Ralph Shortey, who inadvertently revealed how truly clueless big-government Republicans can be.
