Limbaugh: Romney’s No Conservative

Romney is not a conservative. He’s not, folks. You can argue with me all day long on that, but he isn’t… This isn’t personal, not with what country faces and so forth. I like him very much. I’ve spent some social time with him. He’s a fine guy. He’s very nice gentleman. He is a gentleman. But he’s not a conservative.

— Rush Limbaugh, on his radio show, not doing the current GOP frontrunner any favors in the upcoming primaries.

Perry’s Wife Not Clear on the Concept of Unemployment

He resigned his job two weeks ago because he can’t go out and campaign with his father because of SEC regulations…My son lost his job because of this administration.

Anita Perry, wife of Gov. Rick Perry (Tex. – GOPvangelical), responding sympathetically to a voter at a South Carolina diner who told the Perrys he is working as a handyman since losing his job. Griffin Perry resigned as an investment advisor at Deutche Bank to hit the campaign trail with his dad.

Scott Gives Himself Do-Over on Jobs Promise

I could argue that I don’t have to create any jobs. I just have to make sure we don’t lose jobs.

Gov. Rick Scott (Fla. – GOP/Tea), explaining why he shouldn’t be held to his campaign promise to create 700,000 new jobs on top of projected growth in Florida. Scott has focused — like most tea party Republicans who campaign on jobs — on issues like drug testing applicants for public assistance, gutting environmental protections, restricting access to voting, and micromanaging public education.

Philosophizing at Occupy Wall Street

They tell you we are dreamers. The true dreamers are those who think things can go on indefinitely the way they are. We are not dreamers. We are awakening from a dream which is tuning into a nightmare. We are not destroying anything. We are only witnessing how the system is destroying itself. We all know the classic scenes from cartoons. The cat reaches a precipice. But it goes on walking. Ignoring the fact that there is nothing beneath. Only when it looks down and notices it, it falls down. This is what we are doing here. We are telling the guys there on Wall Street — Hey, look down!

— Slovenian philosopher Slavoj Žižek, speaking at Occupy Wall Street.

Nearly 1 Million Donated to Obama Campaign in Q3

982,967

People have donated to the Obama re-election campaign. In the third fundraising quarter of this year, 606,027 people donated to this campaign — more than gave in the record-breaking previous quarter. Those people gave more than 766,000 total donations, 98 percent of them $250 or less, at an average amount of $56. That’s more than twice as many donations than at this point in the 2008 campaign. Obama for America and the Democratic National Committee together raised $70 million — far exceeding the goal of $55 million for the quarter.
