Palin Drops the Ditzy Act at Governor’s Conference

O.K., lord knows I don’t want to make anyone have to watch more Sarah Palin than they already have. BUT. Take a look at about a minute or so of Palin’s address at the Republican Governor’s Conference:

Whoa! She forms complete sentences. She drops that faux-Fargo-Frances McDormand accent. She even tosses out the word, “plenary” as if she’d used it before.

Now let’s review her performance here, when she mistook fans for protesters at one of her recent campaign stops.

Which is the real Sarah Palin? I suspect it’s the one we saw at the Governor’s Conference. I never thought Palin was as dumb as she would have the people she hopes are even dumber believe. Be warned.

Quick! Protest Prop 8 Saturday, Nov. 15

Sorry for the short notice but we just found out ourselves. Simultaneous nationwide protests against California’s recently passed Proposition 8, which overturns a state law legalizing gay marriage, are set for tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. Pacific (1:30 p.m. Eastern). To find out where to protest in your state and town, visit JoinTheImpact.com.

If you live in a state like mine that also passed an anti gay marriage initiative, feel free to adapt your protest accordingly.

Since there’s not much time, you might need help coming up with a catchy slogan for your sign. No problem — the site supplies a full page of suggestions and photos from protests already held. There’s even a page to brainstorm protest chants. These folks have thought of everything. All you have to do is show up.

Quote du Jour

It unfortunately sent a message that she was the de facto leader of the party.

Hillary for Secretary of State? Not Feeling It

With the rumors flying that Obama’s pick for secretary of state could be Sen. Hillary Clinton, we are of mixed mind. On the one hand, maybe it would finally shut up all those diehard Hillary fans out there (but I doubt it). On the other, one worries about the toll it would take on our diplomatic relations.

After all, this is the woman who once joked that Ghandi “ran a gas station down in St. Louis.”

After all, this is the woman who said “hard working Americans, white Americans” would never vote for Obama.

She’s the one who once joked that Ghandi “ran a gas station down in St. Louis.”

She’s also the one who swore she was met with sniper fire instead of flowers and little girls reading poems when she visited Bosnia as First Lady.

If Clinton can keep her mouth in check and her brain engaged, she might make a good secretary of state.

Personally, I would rather Obama go with someone dreamier and more symbolically bipartisan, like Republican former Nebraska Sen. Chuck Hagel. Leaving more Democrats in the Senate and fewer on the Cabinet will help Obama more in the long run.
