If you’re like me, and from your comments I know you are, you’re about over John Kerry and Hillary Clinton and any other “presumptive nominee” that could never possibly be elected but have been shoved down our Democratic throats.
John Kerry scolding Hillary Clinton has got to take the biscuit for annoying, self-serving hooey.
Kerry, who was widely criticized as the party’s standard-bearer in 2004 for being too cautious in his criticism of the war, said Tuesday that politicians “cannot have it both ways.”
In remarks that could have been aimed at Clinton, Kerry said: “It’s not enough to argue with the logistics or to argue about the details. … It is essential to acknowledge that the war itself was a mistake. … It was wrong, and I was wrong to vote for that Iraqi war resolution.”
Oh shut up, will ya, Kerry? The 2004 presumptive dolt is bickering with the 2008 presumptive sure loser over whether or not to set a date to withdraw troops from Iraq.

Note to Hil: a “difficult conversation” is when you tell your parents you want to discuss their living wills. One thing I’ll say for Clinton, though. She’s right to put the blame for this imbecility on Bush/Rumsfeld/Cheney. On the other hand, she did vote for the war just before she voted against it.
Here’s what we have to do: we have to keep Kerry and Clinton and any other candidates that Republicans are peeing their pants hoping we’ll run from making it to “presumptive nominee” status. Last time I felt like my vote (for Edwards because Wesley Clark had already washed out by then) didn’t count — and I am in Florida, a frickin’ Super Tuesday, i.e. early primary state. We can not let a surefire loser make it to the podium in 2008.
I agree. I hate to say it, but once a loser in politics, especially for President, always a loser. Please do not let Kerry get back there. It will be an instant loss in my opinion.
I still have mixed-feelings on Hillary Clinton. I think she would do a good job, although I worry she would be sunk on stupid politics like Kerry was. She is an even bigger target than Kerry was.
There’s no sense in our even talking about backing a candidate until we progressive come up with a program that’s a match for our beliefs. We could hold it to, say ten resolutions, including for starters, say, troops out now, single payer health insurance, cutting the military budget in half, restoring pensions, undoing NAFTA & CAFTA, full civil and labor rights and citiizenship for immigrants, to cite but six such possibilites. Then, after we come up with our top ten items, we can see which candidate(s) will pledge to support them. If none do, perhaps we can decide upon write-in candidates, and, if none are available, we can sit the next election out.
Never again, though, should we fall for the least worst candidate BS. If we don’t stick to our principles, how can we expect our candidates to? Besides, it’s time we moved on to direct democracy. It’s as if the Internet was custom made for this purpose.
Both Kerry and Hillary haven’t a snowball’s chance of hell winning the presidency.
Al Gore all the way – there is a delicious sense of justice in Gore winning in 2008, although he will have a Herculean task – cleaning up the shit that Bush has besmirched all over the halls of government.
Gore is without a doubt the best choice with Russ Feingopld as his running mate> Wes Clark or John Edwards are great, too, SO WHAT THE HELL DO WE NEED WITH “THE BELTWAY INSIDERS”, ANYWAY?
