For months, we have wondered how Gov. Chris Christie thinks he can win the presidency when New Jersey is in such rotten shape after his six years in office. Now we may have our answer: The man has lost touch with reality.

N.J. Voters Don’t Want Christie for President

Of New Jersey voters believe Jeb Bush would make a better president than Chris Christie, who only 27% support, a new Monmouth University poll finds. Similarly, more N.J. voters believe Scott Walker would make a better president than Christie, 34% to 24%. “Just 29% of Gov. Christie’s Garden State constituents believe he has the right temperament to be president, while 67% say he does not. Large majorities of Democrats (78%) and independents (64%) – as well as a majority (54%) of Republicans – say Christie does not have the right temperament to lead the country. Just three months ago, a solid majority (66%) of Republicans believed Christie did have the proper disposition for the presidency.”

Walker Has Strong Ties to Big Republican Donors

Of the nation’s top 250 Republican donors have given money to Scott Walker in his campaigns for Wisconsin governor, according to an Upshot analysis of Federal Election Commission records and state records. By comparison, 30 percent have given to Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, 20 percent to Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and 10 percent to Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey.
