Bob Menendez (D-NJ) with a sizable advantage over Bob Hugin (R) in the 2018 race for U.S. Senate, 53% to 32%. “Menendez starts out the campaign with weak approval ratings in part due to fallout from his recent corruption trial. But these negatives are more than offset by the fact he has a ‘D’ next to his name. Hugin, on the other hand, is known to few New Jersey voters at this stage of the race.”

A new Quinnipiac poll in New Jersey finds Phil Murphy (D) with a huge lead over Kim Guadagno (R) in the race for governor, 57% to 37%. Pollster Peter Brown: “Politics is a team game. Guadagno’s GOP teammates — President Trump, with a 33% job approval rating, and Gov. Chris Christie, with his 15% approval rating — are clearly pulling her down.”

Baldwin Helps Raise $5 Million for N.J. Dems

Of New Jersey voters believe Gov. Chris Christie (R) should have been a defendant in the recently concluded Bridgegate trial, according to a new Fairleigh Dickinson University PublicMind poll. Just 18% of voters approve of Christie’s job performance, while 73% disapprove. A new Quinnipiac poll finds just 19% approve of Christie’s performance while 77% disapprove — the lowest for any governor in 20 years.
