Bubba’s Speaking Fees a Possible Conflict for Hillary Clinton

$8 million

Speaking fees paid by more than two dozen companies and groups and one foreign government to former President Bill Clinton to give speeches around the time they also had matters before Hillary Clinton’s State Department, according to a Wall Street Journal analysis. Fifteen of them also donated a total of between $5 million and $15 million to the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation, the family’s charity, according to foundation disclosures.

Iowa Voters OK with Ex-Presidents as Political Advisers

Of likely Republican caucus-goers said that it would be “mostly good” for Jeb Bush’s presidency if he were to tap his older brother, George, as a close adviser, according to a new Bloomberg/Des Moines Register Iowa Poll. Thirty-three percent said such an arrangement would be “mostly bad” for Jeb Bush’s presidency. As for Hillary Clinton, a whopping 83% of likely Democratic caucus-goers approved of the idea of her using her husband, Bill, as a close adviser, while just 9% said doing so was a “mostly bad” suggestion for her presidency.

Clintons Create a ‘Soap-Operatic Political Universe’

Along with her husband—the 42nd President of the United States—Hillary Clinton is the co-creator of a soap-operatic political universe in which documents vanish, words like is take on multiple meanings and foes almost always overplay their hand. Impeachment can be a route to higher approval ratings; the occasional (and rare) defeat merely marks the start of the next campaign. Whatever rules may apply to them, the law of gravity is not one.

Who’s Lying — Hill or Bill?

The server contains personal communications from my husband and me and I believe I have met all of my responsibilities and the server will remain private and I think that the State Department will be able, over time, to release all of the records that were provided.

— Hillary Clinton, asserting that “personal emails between her and her husband, former President Clinton, exist on a private account. But the former commander-in-chief’s spokesman has said Clinton has only sent two email messages in his lifetime, and both were when he occupied the White House,” The Hill reports. The ex-president’s spokesman told the Wall Street Journal that Mr. Clinton doesn’t use email.

Clinton Defends Foundation

My theory about all of this is disclose everything and then let people make their judgments. I believe we have done a lot more good than harm and I believe this is a good thing.

— Bill Clinton, defending his foundation’s acceptance of donations from foreign governments, “pointing to the track record of his global philanthropy as Hillary Clinton nears an announcement on a 2016 presidential campaign,” the AP reports.
