How Marco Rubio Spent His Summer Vacation

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) wasted no time hitting the road for the Senate recess that began on July 2 and ends July 6. There’s books to sell, dammit! So let’s get aboard our rock star tour bus and sell, sell, sell!

The senator is taking a jaunt around his home state, visiting every Republican population center to hawk copies of his book, An American Son. One of his first stops was The Villages, a retirement community that is a Republican and Tea Party stronghold, and a favorite of Gov. Rick Scott. It was at The Villages where Scott famously had his minions eject Democrats while holding his quote-unquote public budget signing just after taking office.

The book tells Rubio’s life story, although it’s mostly devoted to his parents’ life stories, since Rubio’s is…well, let’s just say theirs are more interesting. Writing the book was apparently a learning experience for Rubio, who used to claim that his parents were Cuban exiles. It was later revealed that their decision to leave Cuba was made years before Castro came to power and was based on a desire to live in America and pursue more economic opportunity.

And speaking of making money, Rubio, who does not support the Dream Act for immigrant youth, is offering both English and Spanish language versions of his book for sale.
