Position of the United States in world oil production in eight years in 2020, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA). The agency also projects America will be fully energy-independent by 2030. We blame Obama for this.
Boehner and McConnell Dissed Obama on Election Night – Refused Phone Calls from the President, Claiming They Were Asleep
In his victory speech Tuesday night, Pres. Obama said he was ready to work with Republicans in Congress on the big issues facing the country:
“I am looking forward to reaching out and working with leaders of both parties to meet the challenges we can only solve together: reducing our deficit, reforming our tax code, fixing our immigration system, freeing ourselves from foreign oil.”
According to the New York Times, minutes after the president made those remarks, he placed calls to the two top Republican leaders in Congress — and they dissed him:
After his speech, Obama tried to call Boehner and the Senate Republican leader, Mitch McConnell, but was told they were asleep.
So Republican leaders can’t be bothered to get their dead asses out of bed when the president of the United States calls them? Seriously? These people are hopeless.

Mitt Who? Republicans Hurry to Be Post-Romney
Before dawn broke in my neighborhood, the Romney/Ryan yard signs disappeared from lawns. The zzzppptt! of Romney/Ryan bumper stickers being torn off like bandaids, in grim, lip-pursed yanks, might be what woke me up this morning.
Almost as if they had never existed, the traces of Romney’s support were gone. As soon as it became evident that Pres. Obama had easily held off his shape-shifting opponent, the Romney brand was in the clearance bin.
The main lesson is one that Democrats learned in 2004, when hating George W. Bush wasn’t enough to put Generic Democratic Challenger in the White House
For the vast majority of Romney’s base, his support was more about what he wasn’t than what he was. He wasn’t, of course, Barack Obama. Beyond that, he was Generic Republican Challenger, and he stirred as much passion in his followers, if they could be called that, as a can of Ensure. Yes, he had all the ingredients they needed but they’d really rather have had them in a slice of pizza.

Jonathan Chait has a similar take. The way he describes his overall support for the president tracks closely to my own. “[Unlike] so many of his supporters,” Chait writes, “I never experienced a kind of emotional response to his candidacy. I never felt his election would change everything about American politics or government, that it would lead us out of the darkness. Nothing Obama did or said ever made me well up with tears … I supported Obama because I judged him to have a keen analytical mind, grasping both the possibilities and the limits of activist government, and possessed of excellent communicative talents. I thought he would nudge government policy in an incrementally better direction. I consider his presidency an overwhelming success.”

CNNMoney: Obama is Now Officially a Job Creator
Newly released employment numbers show two things.
1. Pres. Obama is a job creator.
2. Mitt Romney needs a new strategy.
NEW YORK (CNNMoney) — The U.S. economy now has more jobs than it did when the president took office in January of 2009.
Economist: ‘The stimulus did what it was expected to do. We are on a path to recovery.’With the addition of Friday’s fairly strong jobs report, plus upward revisions over the last couple of months, there are now 194,000 more jobs than there were in January of 2009, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
And the number could be even higher once more expected revisions are released. Last month, the Labor Department released a statement saying it likely under-counted jobs created in much of 2011 by around 386,000. Those are preliminary figures that could still change when the final data is released in February.
But by either measure, Obama can now be called a job creator.
“The stimulus did what it was expected to do,” said Heidi Shierholz, an economist at the left-leaning Economic Policy Institute, referring to the $787 billion package of spending and tax cuts pushed through by the president in early 2009. “We are on a path to recovery.”
