Rush Limbaugh: Obama, Acting Through the National Hurricane Center, Tried to Ruin Republican Convention

isaac
Flooding in Plaquemines Parish, La. is eerily reminiscent of that other storm that Rush Limbaugh doesn't want us to talk about but the seventh anniversary of it is today

Rush Limbaugh has to be thinking that now would be as good a time as any to retire. His recent assertion that the National Hurricane Center (NHC) is conspiring to re-elect the president is all the evidence anyone needs that Rush would probably be happier at home, out of the reach of microphones.

Here’s what Rush said on his show earlier this week:

The hurricane center is the regime. The hurricane center is the Commerce Department. It’s the government. It’s Obama.

And as Obama, the NHC obviously wanted to disrupt the Republican National Convention by forecasting, while Isaac was still a tropical storm south of Haiti, that it could strengthen and threaten the gulf coast of Florida, including Tampa. Just listen to Rush’s version:

Juan Williams Questions Ann Romney’s Credentials After Mitt’s Wife Talks About Eating Tuna While Living Off Stock Options

Wow. Add Juan Williams to the growing list of mainstream journalists who have had it with GOP lies, distortion, and spin. Williams wasn’t buying Ann Romney’s assertions at the Republican convention that she and Mitt struggled early on. Mitt was the son of a governor (who ran for president).

Meet U.S. Rep. Kevin Yoder (R-Ks.), aka, the Naked Swimmer of Galilee

Those are not his beautiful kids.

It was all fun and games on Aug. 4, 2011 until U.S. Rep. Kevin Yoder (R), 36, of Hutchinson, Ks., decided to strip naked before plunging into the Sea of Galilee.

Yoder’s idea of an apology: ‘Regrettably I jumped into the water without a swimsuit’

“There’s no question there was a sense of lightheartedness and there were those who were drinking alcohol,” said Rep. David Schweikert of Arizona, who was at the dinner but did not swim.

After prodding from the waiters, some of the Americans dived in. Of the 30 members of Congress on the trip, a little more than half went swimming in the Sea of Galilee.

Yoder, who’s serving his first term in Congress, was among the last to jump in, and was the only one who was completely nude. As he dived into the water naked, someone screamed that he was not wearing any clothes, according to the GOP sources.

Soon after that the swim came to an end.

This wasn’t the first time the freshman Congressman took things a little too far.

Hang Tough, Todd Akin. Be Too “Legit” to Quit!

akin
Rep. Todd Akin (R/Tea - Mo.)

Here’s the deal. If, as almost every Republican of note is asking, Rep. Todd Akin quits the race for U.S. Senate from Missouri by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 21, another Republican will be allowed to replace him on the ballot in November.

Republicans see a dead man walking, and are laying on the pressure to get poor Todd out. It’s not that they disagree with him over abortion, mind you. They just realize that his parsing of some difference between “rape” and “legitimate rape” leaves them at a disadvantage with women voters (again), and with that feeling that Akin says women’s bodies have toward rapist sperm: they want Todd out.

Democrats who are interested in retaining control of the Senate need to show Todd some love. Send a note of encouragement. Tell Rep. Akin to hang in there and keep fighting.

Republicans are dying to take control of the now Democratically-controlled Senate, the only thing that’s been standing between Americans and bat shit crazy for the past two years. They were fine with the tea party-backed Akin and men like him, who want to make all the choices for women so we don’t have to worry our empty little heads about them. But once Akin became a symbol of a small portion of what’s wrong with their party, they were anxious to shed him.

Among the Republicans lining up to urge Akin to quit:

Breaking: Tea Baggers Steeped (Naked? OMG!) in the Sea of Galilee

This story is too great to believe — but it’s the sometimes right-leaning Politico breaking it, so we must.

Hooo-weee.

The FBI probed a late-night swim in the Sea of Galilee that involved drinking, numerous GOP freshmen lawmakers, top leadership staff – and one nude member of Congress, according to more than a dozen sources, including eyewitnesses…

During a fact-finding congressional trip to the Holy Land last summer, Rep. Kevin Yoder (R-Kan.) took off his clothes and jumped into the sea…

These GOP sources confirmed the following freshmen lawmakers also went swimming that night: Rep. Steve Southerland (R-Fla.) and his daughter; Rep. Tom Reed (R-N.Y.) and his wife; Reps. Ben Quayle (R-Ariz.), Jeff Denham (R-Calif.) and Michael Grimm (R-N.Y.). Many of the lawmakers who ventured into the ocean said they did so because of the religious significance of the waters. Others said they were simply cooling off after a long day. Several privately admitted that alcohol may have played a role in why some of those present decided to jump in.

The Sea of Galilee, a Christian holy site, is where Jesus is said in the Bible to have walked on water.

The story is well reported by Jake Sherman and John Bresnahan, so please read it from the source.

Rep. Todd Akin: Rape Won’t Make You Pregnant

Meet the man running for U.S. Senate from Missouri against Sen. Claire McCaskill (D). You’ve heard he’s very far right. You’ve heard he’s backed by the tea party. But have you heard that Rep. Todd Akin is nuts? You have now.

Akin’s bizarre theory that the female body has a way of guarding against pregnancy in cases of “legitimate” rape is just wacko. What way might that be, Todd? Does it secrete natural spermicides? Does the uterus jump out of the way of the incoming sperm? Does the female brain send a signal to the uterine wall to sneeze? Break it down for us.

In fact, about 5 percent of rapes of women of childbearing age and ability in the United States annually leave the victim pregnant. Notice I just said, “rape,” not “forcible rape,” or “legitimate rape,” or as Akin might put it, “real rape.”

Why are some men trying to pass laws about what women can and can’t do when they have no more understanding of women than a 12-year-old?

Yes, Romney Really Did Introduce Ryan as the ‘Next President of the United States’

Does it get any worse? First Mitt picks a frickin’ aircraft carrier for his big announcement. Hmmmm…why does that ring a bell? Oh yeah, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!

Then he introduces his new running mate, Sen. Paul Ryan, as “the next president of the United States.” Next, after his people offstage tell him what a stooge he is, he interrupts Ryan’s big moment to correct himself.

The two of them look like they’re sharing a suit. Mitt got the tie and Ryan got the jacket. Maybe if they shared a brain, Mitt would finally have half of one.
