For 40 days and 40 nights, it looked like democracy might be saved.
The Democrats were united while the Republicans just looked depraved.
But faced with the GOP’s lust for cruelty,
Out the window went party fealty,
And without a concession or compromise, eight cowardly Democrats caved.
Capitulating to Trump requires an act of moral desertion;
It just emboldens the bully to double down on intimidation.
Look, bending a knee
Will not set you free,
It just encourages Trump to commit greater acts of extortion.
From Trump’s “stolen election” lies, we can’t get no relief,
He carps on about stolen votes, but he never names the thief.
Somebody needs to tell this guy
Americans aren’t buying his lies,
And that he’s turned us into the United States of Disbelief.
