I don’t even know anybody in Mississippi, and I’m insulted by what U.S. Charles Rangel (D-NY) said.
Rangel, a Democrat, was quoted in The New York Times on Thursday saying: “Mississippi gets more than their fair share back in federal money, but who the hell wants to live in Mississippi?”
Rangel said he didn’t intend to insult the state…
Obviously.
Maybe Rangel needs to get out more. He could come south and listen to some live blues and maybe even eat a fried catfish. But let us know when you’re coming, Charlie, so we can all peel our “We don’t care how you do it in New York” bumper stickers off our cars.

Rep. Charlie Rangel is a New Yorker: he’s brash, outspoken, and blunt.
He’s also correct: every since Bush got in office and the GOP took over the country, southern states have enjoyed a disproportionate amount of Federal dollars. Sen. Clinton spoke to this when she said the distribution of Federal dollars allocated to the Ryan White Fund favored southern states at the expense of NE states — especially, New York.
If amything, I think Rangel’s comments were intended to rile Trent Lott (R-MS), who has played the Northern v. Southern states game for years.

Rangel, shouldn’t have made the remarks anywhere but IN Mississippi. As a native of Biloxi, I know of a few old men who can show him a whole new meaning to “Southern Hospitality”. I know people from N.Y., so I don’t use this classless individual as an example.
