Harris Campaign Raises $200 Million in First Week

“Kamala Harris’s campaign has raised more than $200 million since President Biden endorsed her last Sunday and terminated his own presidential bid — with two-thirds of the vice president’s haul coming from first-time donors,” the Washington Post reports. “Harris campaign aides said they have recruited 170,000 new volunteers since last Sunday and are holding 2,300 events to mobilize grassroots supporters this weekend.”

A new YouGov poll founds just before President Biden’s decision to drop his re-election bid, just 17% of Democrats said they felt optimistic about this year’s Democratic nomination process. After Biden stepped aside, 51% did, a 34-percentage-point increase in the span of just a few days. The shares saying they felt several other positive emotions also increased: excited (+26), confident (+16), inspired (+16), or satisfied (+12).
