Republican Ex-Governor Endorses Clinton

I’m not often critical of the media, but I am this year. And it’s driven mostly by television, and ratings. They never really vetted Bernie Sanders, and to this day have not vetted Donald Trump. Hillary Clinton? Oh my God. No human being in history has been more vetted.

— Former Minnesota Gov. Arne Carlson (R), quoted by City Pages, announcing his support for Hillary Clinton who he said is a “very kind, a very good person.”

Clinton’s National Lead Grows

49% to 37%

Hillary Clinton has opened up a double-digit lead nationally over Donald Trump, according to a new Bloomberg poll. Very interesting: 55% of those polled said they could never vote for Trump. Pollster Ann Selzer: “Clinton has a number of advantages in this poll, in addition to her lead. Her supporters are more enthusiastic than Trump’s and more voters overall see her becoming a more appealing candidate than say that for Trump.” A new Reuters/Ipsos poll also shows Clinton leading by 12 points.

Obama Finally Says ‘Radical Islam’

There’s no magic to the phrase radical Islam. It’s a political talking point. The reason I am careful has nothing to do with political correctness and everything to do with defeating extremism. … ISIS wants to claim they are the true leaders of over a billion Muslims across the world who reject their crazy notions… That’s their propaganda, that’s how they recruit. If we fall into the trap of painting all Muslims with a broad brush we are doing the terrorists’ work for them.

Election a Referendum on What Kind of Country U.S. Will Be

This presidential contest is turning out to be more than a battle of Democrat vs. Republican, liberal vs. conservative, blue vs. red. Instead, yesterday’s dueling speeches by Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump on the Orlando shooting revealed it to be an even bigger fight over what kind of country the United States of America should be — open, inclusive and tolerant, or closed, divided and intolerant? That’s the choice.

Gingrich Advocates a New House Un-American Activities Committee

Let me go a step further, because remember, San Bernardino, Fort Hood, and Orlando involve American citizens. We’re going to ultimately declare a war on Islamic supremacists and we’re going to say, if you pledge allegiance to ISIS, you are a traitor and you have lost your citizenship. And we’re going take much tougher positions. In the late 1930s, President Franklin Roosevelt was faced with Nazi penetration in the United States. We originally created the House Un-American Activities Committee to go after Nazis. We passed several laws in 1938 and 1939 to go after Nazis and we made it illegal to help the Nazis. We’re going to presently have to go take the similar steps here.
