No one can figure out the motives yet of the 57-year-old white guy who shot up a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado. The nightmare happened only two days ago and officials caution it’s way too soon to reach any conclusions about why the man, who lived in a “hermit’s shanty” in the woods, would kill three people and wound nine.
…the suspect accused of carrying out the shooting spree, Robert Lewis Dear, made remarks about “baby parts” to investigators after his surrender, a law enforcement official told CNN.
Dear, 57, told them he has anti-abortion and anti-government views, but that doesn’t mean those opinions were his motive for allegedly shooting up the Colorado Springs clinic on Friday, the official said. It’s too early to tell, as investigators are still processing evidence.
Yes, just because the shooter talked about body parts after he surrendered doesn’t mean the bloodbath had anything to do with the recent video trumped up by an anti-abortion group to smear Planned Parenthood. That video was edited to make it appear that a Planned Parenthood employee talked about preserving fetal tissue for research, but it’s just too soon to know if that’s what moved the suspect.
And what if, in addition to the ginned-up video itself, Republican presidential candidate Carly Sneed — whoops, forgot, she goes by her second husband’s last name, Fiorina — declared that she had seen a video that showed “the butchery of babies for body parts?” Just because no one else can find Carly’s video, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Nor can we say if it has anything to do with the actions of the guy who shot four cops, killing one, along with the other deaths and attempted deaths. It’s just too early to know.
We have to take our time with these things and not rush to conclusions. To say that a falsified video could incite a deranged gun nut with a history of domestic and animal abuse and peeping tom charges who lives in the woods is not fair. Because we just don’t know yet. It could be a coincidence that Republicans are vilifying Planned Parenthood as they campaign to cut funding for the women’s healthcare services the organization provides, and that people keep attacking its offices.
At least three of the organization’s buildings have been vandalized since September, not long after the last video appeared.
Nope. It’s early people. Ear-LY. We need to wait before we make any links between inflaming gundamentalists and actual violence. And remember, the time is never right to say that it’s too easy for a person with this guy’s history who lives in a lean-to in the woods without electricity to arm himself with the very latest technology in automatic weapons. I mean, what does that have to do with anything? OK, it might have something to do with it but it’s too soon to know yet.
Let’s all just chill out and wait for actual proof and pretend that we’ll get around to dealing with this stuff when we have sufficient evidence.
If he “lives in a lean-to in the woods without electricity” how did he see an internet video?
Just look at the reactions between the Planned Parenthood shootings and the shootings in San Bernardino. They were also saying the San Bernardino shooters were ISIS connected within an hour of the shooting and the cries were getting louder and louder as the day went by.
