Kochs Paying High-School Kids to Knock on Doors for Romney

Amount that Politico reports some of the large anti-Obama secret money groups — including the Koch-backed Americans for Prosperity — are paying to get people to knock on doors and make phone calls to help Mitt Romney even the ground game playing field with President Obama. The Koch brothers’ network also has been paying groups to use home-schooled high-school kids for anti-Obama door-knocking.
Romney Charging Journalists to Cover Election Night Rally

Amount that broadcast news organizations will be paying up for workspace at Mitt Romney’s election night gathering at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, where access costs $75 for a chair in the ballroom or $1,020 for permission to use the media filing center. In contrast, Obama’s campaign party will be held at McCormick Place, in Chicago where credentialed reporters are granted access, which includes a workstation, electrical power and a wireless Internet connection, at no cost.

The way he describes his overall support for the president tracks closely to my own. “[Unlike] so many of his supporters,” Chait writes, “I never experienced a kind of emotional response to his candidacy. I never felt his election would change everything about American politics or government, that it would lead us out of the darkness. Nothing Obama did or said ever made me well up with tears … I supported Obama because I judged him to have a keen analytical mind, grasping both the possibilities and the limits of activist government, and possessed of excellent communicative talents. I thought he would nudge government policy in an incrementally better direction. I consider his presidency an overwhelming success.”
