I agree with Mitt Romney. It is the responsibility of the people to take personal responsibility for their own lives and to find honest work doing something/anything productive to earn their own way. These are called MORAL AND ETHICAL VALUE’S! My 43 year old son receives food stamps. He does not work but he could if he had to. I blame the government for enabling him to do nothing productive with his life by making it so easy for him to do nothing. ‘A MAN ONLY DOES WHAT HE HAS TO DO’ is most often true. Taking from the government was something you just didn’t do not all that many years ago, at least not if you were physically and mentally capable of taking care of yourself. Now…it’s has become a way of life for many. This is not the standards that America was built on and I am tired of our government creating loser’s instead of contributor’s. If I work hard and earn my way and become wealthy because of it…I don’t feel the government has the right to take more from me so that my hard-earned dollars can go to people that are perfectly capable of working. American’s need to get off their butts and work hard doing whatever they can to earn an honest paycheck. It is as simple as that. There are jobs out there but too many American’s would prefer free easy money over a job that isn’t the job of their dreams. How much money is spent on welfare for the capable? I would much rather see my tax dollars being used by creating and implementing qualifier’s as to who gets my tax dollars. Trust me, I see people that are perfectly capable of working every day…who hand me link cards and wic vouchers, etc. Than they give me a hundred dollar bill to pay for their booze, cigarettes and lobster. They are laughing all the way to the bank and they are not even ashamed. You see I am just a cashier at a local grocery chain. I don’t love my job but it pays my bills and allows me to carry health insurance. I actually work two jobs. I am 60 years old. I would never live off the government ever as long as I am capable of working. How can our government support such irresponsible behavior?
Sally, you are so misinformed it’s almost tragic. You are parroting Fox News lies and propaganda, and you are obviously invested in Sarah Palin style right-wing victimhood. But I felt I had to point out that you said here that it’s the government’s fault that your son is on food stamps. You raised him. Don’t you have any responsibility for the way he turned out? So much for the right wing talking point about taking personal responsibility!
I do know this, if my mother, an ultra-liberal, knew that one of her adult children couldn’t afford food, she would make sure he or she was fed, without going on public assistance. Shame on you for letting your son live on the dole even though you say you have resources.
