Yes, Romney Really Did Introduce Ryan as the ‘Next President of the United States’
Does it get any worse? First Mitt picks a frickin’ aircraft carrier for his big announcement. Hmmmm…why does that ring a bell? Oh yeah, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!
Then he introduces his new running mate, Sen. Paul Ryan, as “the next president of the United States.” Next, after his people offstage tell him what a stooge he is, he interrupts Ryan’s big moment to correct himself.
The two of them look like they’re sharing a suit. Mitt got the tie and Ryan got the jacket. Maybe if they shared a brain, Mitt would finally have half of one.

The Romney campaign underwent heavy bombardment from its own right flank this week after it flip-flopped from its longtime stance of pretending that Romneycare does not exist to promoting it as a solution for enabling laid-off workers to keep health-insurance coverage after they lose their jobs.
But now that Romney has picked Rep. Paul Ryan to be his running mate, the campaign is going to have to somehow walk back Ryan’s thorough trashing of Romneycare — including the individual mandate, which was created at the Heritage Foundation, a think tank so right wing that it sponsors Rush Limbaugh’s show — including his labeling of the system as a “fatal conceit.” Transcript follows:

At a closed-door fundraiser on April 14, 2011, Pres.Obama criticized Republicans in Congress for using the budget process to “enact their political agenda under the guise of cutting spending.” He singled out Rep. Paul Ryan, chairman of the House budget committee and now Mitt Romney’s nominee for vice president, saying:
PRES. OBAMA: When Paul Ryan says his priority is to make sure, you know, he’s just being America’s accountant, trying to be responsible …This is the same guy who voted for two wars that were unpaid for, voted for the Bush tax cuts that were unpaid for, voted for the prescription drug bill that cost as much as my health care bill — but wasn’t paid for. So it’s not on the level.
