Here’s Ron Paul’s take on Newt Gingrich. Of course, Paul considers showing Newt with Nancy Pelosi incendiary, and quotes Rush Limbaugh as if he were someone with a right to be outraged over someone else’s hypocrisy and moral infidelity. The ad does point out just a few of the many reasons we should all hate Newt but it doesn’t answer the question of why Ron Paul is going after him. I mean, of all Paul’s fellow primary contender whack jobs, why Newt? Did Paul produce negative ads about Bachmann or Cain? Maybe some Ron-ulans can enlighten me here.

Trump picked an artful dodger —

A record number of women are running for state legislative seats this November, more than two-thirds of whom are Democrats, reports Florida Phoenix. Currently, women hold about one-third of state legislative seats across the country — a record level of representation but nowhere near parity.

$1.4 billion
“Prediction markets about the 2026 midterm elections have surpassed $1.4 billion in trading volume as Election Day fast approaches,” CNN reports. “This year has seen massive growth in the prediction industry, where people can bet on real-world events like sports, entertainment and the weather. While small-scale election markets have been around for a while, they gained traction before the 2024 presidential election and have seen huge numbers for the 2026 midterms.”

G. Elliot Morris: “Low-knowledge 2024 voters say they backed Trump by 8 points, according to our poll. Today they give him a net job approval of ?27, a 35-point shift. Compare that to Trump’s approval rating among voters who got both questions right: These voters backed Harris by 1 point and now give Trump a net ?24 approval, a 23-point shift. … Low-information voters have moved against Trump at a higher rate than high-information voters, by 12 points.”

Umm Because Gingrich is the frontrunner. Ron Paul obviously wants to take the “Anti-Romney” Mantle as Bachman, Perry, and Cain before. If Gingrich falls, perhaps Paul would become the next Romney Rival (who else is left? I guess there’s still Santorum…).
I don’t see why this is asked. I mean it’s pretty obvious considering how much Newt have surged and overtaken Romney by various measures.
What I was asking, Dreamer, is if Paul reacted similarly to each of the other candidates when they were the front runners. It seems like he stood by while the others ascended but is taking a special interest in Newt. Are you saying that he would have saved it up for whoever seemed to be leading at the end, no matter who it was?
I think you missed the Rick Perry ad attacks then. Ron Paul attacked Perry about how he was a bit supporter of Al Gore and etc.
Yes I did miss that one. Thanks.
Trish, I think there are several reasons. I think Dreamer is correct, but also 1) When asked this question Ron Paul said he was particularly disturbed that someone claiming to be a Tea Party guy took money from Freddi Mac just before the crash. So in effect, Newt benefited from the bail out money. Also, Newt was crticizing lobbyists – when by all accounts the 1.x million he got wase exactly that – money to influence congress on behalf of these rogue entities. So he considered this a particularly grevious bit of hypocracy. 2) The first cuacus and primary are coming up very quickly and this information has gotten out because the press is too busy with Cain’s extramarital affair stuff.
That’s my take based on what Ron Paul has said publically about the reason for the ad.
Thanks Richard. I certainly agree about Newt’s hypocrisy. Perhaps his total lack of self-analysis is what leads people to say he has a Napoleon complex.
Ron Paul believes your record should speak for itself but the media refuses to disclose the truth so how is anyone to know anything that is a lie if left to the media to report it? The media wants to refer to this as Ron Paul going ‘negative’… what??? He is only telling the facts which again, he should not have to if our media was not bought and paid for… As for you to play innocent shows either a real lacking of understanding or you too are nothing but part of game. I am thinking with Ron Paul, the illusion or game is soon to be ‘CHECK-MATE’.
