Anthony Weiner, from henceforth after his personal indiscretions were disclosed, he was going to be rendered impotent basically in Congress and he wasn’t going to be effective. Obviously it was the right thing to do.

Some presidential campaigns — 1960, 1980, 1992, 2008 — are exhilarating, suffused with hope and excitement. This is not likely to be one of those. It is likely to be an election that no one wins but someone loses. It will be a reversal of politics past: a pragmatic Democrat will be facing a Republican with all sorts of big ideas, promising an unregulated, laissez-faire American paradise.

Mitt and Ann Romney’s assets, according to the Washington Post. A mere $5 million is kept in their Bank of America checking account (probably just to avoid the $6 monthly fee), while much of the rest was in blind trusts. Separate trusts for their children total an additional $100 million. Romney, who announced his candidacy on June 2, has spent $9 million of his own money so far on his second run for president.
