Fox Deliberately Distorts DOJ Action on New Black Panthers Voting Incident

Hot on their success bringing down ACORN using false reporting and deceptive video editing, the Republican Party propagandists at Fox News are ginning up outrage among their viewers by deliberately misreporting the outcome of Department of Justice investigation into a purported voter intimidation incident on Election Day in 2008.

In its coverage of the DOJ response to a complaint against three members of the New Black Panther Party, an insignificant fringe group unrelated to the Black Panthers activist organization in the 1960s, Fox on-air personalities made the false claim that no sanctions were levied against the NBPP thugs and and lied again by stating that there was no precedent for the DOJ’s handling of the event.

The lies are demonstrably deliberate because, in the same segment, the Fox personalities quoted other sections from testimony by a DOJ official involved in the case in which both the DOJ sanction against NBP and the precedent case were discussed.

As with its trumped up case against ACORN — a nationwide nonprofit group that focused on housing for the poor as well as voter registration, and so was on the Republicans’ hit list for years — by distorting the facts, Fox is attempting to gin up racist resentment among its viewers, purporting that the African-American thugs were given a pass by the DOJ because both Pres. Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder are black.

Conversely, a much clearer case of overt preferential treatment based on race can be made in the precedent incident. In 2006, in Arizona, members of the Minutemen, a white supremacist, anti-immigrant militia-style group showed up at a predominantly Latino polling station brandishing a 9mm Glock automatic and bullying voters. The U.S. congressman from the district, Rep. Raul M. Grijalva, a Democrat, was among the voters who were subjected to heckling by the hooligans that day.

Baptizing Jewish Holocaust Victims: The Splash Goes on in Mormon Temples

In May 1995, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) and a consortium of major Jewish groups signed a good faith agreement over the issue of posthumous baptisms of Jewish Holocaust victims by the LDS Church. The LDS Church willingly promised to curb the proxy baptisms of deceased Jews—especially Jewish Holocaust victims. Prior to 1995, Jewish Holocaust victims, whose names were taken from multiple Holocaust lists, had been baptized by the hundreds of thousands in Mormon temples.

Nothing much has changed during the past 15 years. The splash goes on. Many Mormons have behaved as though the agreement between Mormons and Jews does not exist. Since 1995, the names of multi-thousands of Jewish Holocaust victims have been submitted into the LDS pipeline by “overzealous” Mormons for Mormon temple rituals.

Jewish Holocaust victims — with the death camps they died in clearly listed on their on Mormon records — continue to be baptized in Mormon temples around the globe.

Everyone wishes they could think of something constructive to do about the oil disaster, which is why calls to boycott BP, face the ocean and hold hands, and donate to wildlife groups seem like action. Those things are important but the bottom line is that we need to pressure the market to come up with alternatives to an oil-based economy.

I’m sure that you’re like me, and the only reason you drive a car that runs on gas and oil is because that’s what was available when you needed to buy one. We have to support alternative energy, by using our dollars as votes for the kind of products we expect, and by supporting candidates that facilitate change.

Study Finds Flat Crime Rate on Arizona Border – GOP Is Lying about Lawlessness to Gin Up Votes

Last week, Arizona GOP Gov. Jan Brewer, the main promoter of the state’s infamous new anti-immigrant law, was caught in a lie when she claimed that her state’s deserts were littered with the corpses of victims of blood-thirsty illegal immigrants. The bodies, she said, were “either buried or just lying there that have been beheaded.”

But local media did a survey of coroners around the state and found not a single instance of decapitation in which an illegal alien was a suspect. Reporters’ calls to the governor’s office requesting documentation to back up her claim that her state was in the throes of an epidemic of decapitations were not returned.

Now the Washington Post’s Dana Milbank reports that a study two months ago by the state’s largest newspaper, the Arizona Republic (see the paper’s report here), found that the entire premise of the new law — that illegals have driven up the crime rate along the border — is a lie:

Scarborough’s Twitter Snit Revives His Own 2001 Dead-Intern Scandal – Ignored by Media Then And Forgotten Until Now

Remember the scandal from the summer of 2001 about the congressman and the dead female staffer? No, not the Chandra Levy murder, the other one — the one involving Lori Klausutis, the young woman who was found dead in the district office of Joe Scarborough, then a Republican congressman from Florida, now MSNBC’s token right-wing host, the star of “Morning Joe,” an unwatchable live show that airs at the crack of dawn on the East Coast.

Klausutis’ death was largely ignored at the time and has been all but forgotten since, and it is in Scarborough’s interest to keep it that way. Unfortunately for him, however, the incident is back in the news, and Scarborough only has himself to blame.

It started when DailyKos founder, Markos Moulitsas, made a reference to the incident on Twitter. Scarborough could not let it pass and reacted negatively. Now the death of Lori Klausutis is back in the news.
