Ann Coulter Has a Christian Message — Really

Who knew Ann Coulter was a Christian? We all knew she is a freaking nut case and so far to the right of moderate she makes Newt Gingrich look like a peacenik Yippie type, but a Christian?

Oh, but of course, she’s a Christian in that predictable but inimitable Ann Coulter way. On the CNBC show “The Big Idea” Monday night Coulter suggested to host Donny Deutsch that the U.S. would be a better place if there weren’t any Jewish people. She also said that Jews need to “perfect” themselves into Christians:

It led Deutsch to suggest that surely he couldn’t mean that, and when she insisted she did, he said this sounded “anti-Semitic.”

Asked by Deutsch regarding whether she wanted to be like “the head of Iran” and “wipe Israel off the Earth,” Coulter stated: “No, we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say. … That’s what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament.”

Gonzales Hires Defense Attorney

This is an interesting turn of event. Bush’s number one Stooge thinks he’s going to need a defense attorney:

Former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has hired a high-powered Washington lawyer to represent him in investigations of mismanagement of the Justice Department.

George Terwilliger, a white-collar crime defense attorney and the Justice Department’s No. 2 in the early 1990s, last month was on the White House’s short list to replace Gonzales.

Now he’ll be Gonzales’ defender as federal investigators look into allegations that the former attorney general lied to lawmakers and illegally allowed politics to influence hiring and firing at the Justice Department.

In an interview Wednesday, Terwilliger said Gonzales maintains he did nothing wrong or illegal — and the fact he has hired an attorney should not signal any guilt.

People who have done nothing wrong hire defense attorneys every day, right?

Come out, come out, wherever you closeted Republican hypocrites are! Oct. 11 is National Coming Out Day, a time to resolve to live openly as you are. And, in the case of some Republican politicians, to quit trying to make homosexuality go away by legislating it out of existence.

You can even find help at www.comeout.org. There, you’ll get answers to such questions as “Does the Bible really say gay people go to hell?” “Can you turn me straight?” and “Does God make mistakes?” (Hint: all the answers are “no.”)

If only former New Jersey Republican Governor James E. McGreevey, former Florida Republican Representative Mark Foley, and former evangelist Reverend Ted Haggard had come out sooner, who knows how many wives, pages, and victims of homophobia would have been spared.

So come on, Larry, come out! And while we’re at it, let’s not forget to invite:

  • Former Christian Coalition head Ralph Reed (yeah I know he’s married but let’s get real)
  • South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham (not married but ditto on the get real part)
  • Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell (labeled “My Old Kentucky Homo” by many in the state)
  • Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice (who owns a house with her long-time female “friend”)
  • Chief of Staff Josh Bolton (BFF with skank Bo Derrick — nuff said)

Who’d I miss?
