Quote du Jour

The Old Testament is responsible for more atheism, agnosticism, disbelief — call it what you will — than any book ever written: it has emptied more churches than all the counterattractions of cinema, motor bicycle and the golf course.

  1. Many years ago I read a book by the great British philospher Lord Bertrand Russell titled, “Why I am Not a Christian.”. They were contemporaries so perhaps they knew eachother. At any rate, they obviously had similar ideas about christian dogma. Certainly, if one had to choose a bible, Milne´s Winnie the Pooh books (the originals not the Disney parodies) would be the perfect choice.

  2. This is one of those quotes that sounds clever and makes you feel good if you already believe it. In reality it says nothing and is based on nothing. And as for Bertrand Russell, yes, he was British and he was a philosopher, but he was not a “great” philosopher. he was a propagandist who wrote well.

  3. Hey prissy jr!

Which mistranslated version of the bible do you read?

And which of the stories about JC’s birth do you choose to believe?

As for the Old testament….If you think that your SUV, Ipod lifestyle is in anyway relevant to an 8,000 year old text, written by bronze age nomadic goat-herders scratching an impoverished life out in a desert….. by all means follow it.

    Be aware though..

That text has been tampered with many times down through the centuries.
