Majority of Americans Disapprove of Trump

A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll finds Americans “have become increasingly dissatisfied with President Trump as he nears his 100th day in office, with views of his effectiveness and ability to shake up Washington slipping. … More than half of Americans — some 54% — disapprove of the job Mr. Trump is doing as president, compared with 40% who approve, a 14-point gap.”

Trump’s Approval Rating Lower than Any Prez Since WWII

Gallup finds that Donald Trump averaged 41% job approval during his first quarter as president, 14 percentage points lower than any other president in Gallup’s polling history. “Bill Clinton had the previous low mark of 55%. The average first-quarter rating
among post-World War II presidents elected to their first term is 61%, with John Kennedy’s 74% the highest.”

Trump’s Dragging Down GOP

A new Pew Research survey finds President Trump’s approval rating is 39% — precisely the same as two months ago. The percentage of Americans who disapprove of Trump is virtually unchanged: 54%, compared to 56% in February. “The most profound shifts in the Pew survey are in Americans’ perceptions of the GOP beyond Trump. Just 40% of Americans have a favorable opinion of the Republican Party, down from 47% in January, prior to Trump’s inauguration.”

Trump’s Numbers Are Down Across the Board

A new Quinnipiac poll finds President Trump has a negative 35% to 57% job approval rating. In addition, voters opinions of some of Trump’s personal qualities are mostly negative:

  • 61% to 34% that he is not honest
  • 55% to 40% that he does not have good leadership skills
  • 57% to 39% that he does not care about average Americans
  • 66% to 29% that he is not level-headed
  • 64% to 33% that he is a strong person
  • 61% to 34% that he does not share their values
  • Said pollster Tim Malloy: “Trump continues to struggle, even among his most loyal supporters. Many of them would be hard pressed to see even a sliver of a silver lining in this troubling downward spiral.”

    Trump’s Approval Rating Hits Another New Low

    The latest Gallup daily tracking poll shows President Trump’s approval rate crashing to 36% to 57%. “Trump’s current 36% is two percentage points below Barack Obama’s low point of 38%, recorded in 2011 and 2014. Trump has also edged below Bill Clinton’s all-time low of 37%, recorded in the summer of 1993, his first year in office, as well as Gerald Ford’s 37% low point in January and March 1975. John F. Kennedy’s lowest approval rating was 56%; Dwight Eisenhower’s was 48%.”

    A new Quinnipiac survey finds President Trump is losing support among Republicans, white voters and men, leaving him with a negative 37% to 56% job approval rating from American voters, his worst score ever. Said pollster Tim Malloy: “Most alarming for Trump, the demographic underpinnings of his support, Republicans, white voters, especially men and those without a college degree, are starting to have doubts.”
