The Resistance to the coming fascist state under Donald Trump unofficially kicks off at his inauguration on Monday with the notable absence of key Democratic figures who would normally appear on stage with an incoming president.

Hell Freezes over

Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, is going to be bitterly cold in Washington, D.C. WTOP reports that there is a chance of snow on Sunday and predicts gusty winds on Monday, with a high temperature of just 20 degrees.

Ex-Presidents Out at Lunch

Of course, Pres. Biden and Dr. Jill Biden will be on the podium, as will former presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, along with his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and George W. Bush and his wife Laura. However, Michele Obama has opted not to attend.

Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi will not attend the inauguration, and it is not because she recently broke her hip.

The three ex-presidents will skip the traditional luncheon after the swearing-in, however. Both Obama and Clinton declined invitations to attend, but it’s unclear whether Bush was invited.

Scheduled Protests

A crowd of 25,000 is expected for the anti-Trump March on DC Saturday, Jan.18, and thousands more are predicted to participate in protests over the weekend and on Monday. Among them are the ANSWER Coalition’s National Day of Action which starts at 11 a.m. on Monday at Malcolm X Park/Meridian Hill Park. There will be a rally followed by a march. Also on Monday, Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network’s MLK Day 2025 demonstration will start in McPherson Square at 10:30 a.am., followed by a march to Metropolitan AME Church.

No Home Tour for JayVee

Vice Pres. Kamala Harris has opted not to invite the vice president-elect, a man currently calling himself “J.D. Vance.” The pre-inaugural tour has been an informal tradition since the Naval Observatory was repurposed as the vice president’s official residence in the 1970s. The motivation for the snub includes rude treatment from the Trump team during the 2021 transition and “Vance’s” insults directed toward Harris during the presidential campaign, including his referring to her as “trash.”
