Mitt paid some guy to write this insipid pap. And he paid others to approve it. Not only is it bland and generic, it’s lethal to him in a way that it wouldn’t be to Gingrich or Perry or Bachmann or Paul because it plays to his caricature — as a synthetic, stage-managed hollow man of no fixed beliefs.

No I don’t believe anyone wrote those lines. Remember, Romney and the other candidates have gotten 2 hours of sleep a night for the last half year, and they are a bit punchy. Romney was trying to say something bland without having to think too hard about it, and he got lost halfway through the sentence. The same thing happened to Bob Dole:
“I’m running for president of the United States, because I believe that – with strong leadership – America’s days will always lie ahead of us. Just as they lie ahead of us now.”
And to Eisenhower:
“Things are more like they are today than ever before>”
now if romney represented americans instead of big business he might get somewhere
