“This is a White House, according to insiders, that is physically and emotionally exhausted, battered by scandal and drained by political setbacks,” the Washington Post reports today.
It’s obvious that the Bush team has bungled just about every issue that has popped up since they were reelected. But let’s not forget that their first term was one long fiasco too. (No other president has taken the country to war based on a whimsey, just for starters.)
The job of running the country is difficult, even for competent people:
“By the time you get to year six, there’s never a break . . . and you get tired,” said Ed Rollins, who served five years in President Ronald Reagan’s White House. “There’s always a crisis. It wears you down. This has been a White House that hasn’t really had much change at all. There is a fatigue factor that builds up. You sometimes don’t see the crisis approaching. You’re not as on guard as you once were.”
So now they’re tired and screwing up but unwilling to leave Dear Leader’s side. This sounds like Mr. Bush is a cult leader surrounded by selflessly devoted acolytes.
But isn’t it a danger to our national security to have people who are mentally diminished running the government? If they are too tired to perform at peak, they should put the good of the country ahead of the perceived good of the president and resign.

oh, I get it, its nappie nap time in the monkey palace…
Is tired a euphemism for sheepish, inept, corrupt, mendacius, and morally bankrupt?
